Developer Unveils Plans for Additional Business at Aldi Site
At the Brunswick Planning Board meeting Thursday, April 7, David Leon’s representatives asked the Board to approve what they labeled a minor build out change for the site of the proposed Aldi, Wendy’s and KFC, now under construction along Hoosick Road (NYS Route 7). The change, however, now includes the construction of a fifth building on the site for an Aroma Joe’s Drive-Thru Coffee (the Planet Fitness building already exists). Other proposed changes include a redesign of the Wendy’s building and parking space alterations and the installation of four electric vehicle charging stations.
Board members expressed concern thinking this was indeed a major site plan change that might well involve a detailed SEQRA review as well as another public hearing. Board Attorney Andy Gilchrist indicated he would look into the legalities of the changes and what under Brunswick law they might entail reporting back to the Board at their April 21 meeting.

The meeting began with a joint public hearing on CVE North America’s application to construct a solar energy farm on land off Belair Lane. The project has faced many challenges including a need for rezoning, which was approved last month by the Brunswick Town Board. The public hearing held this night in combination with the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) saw but three speakers, two neighbors of the project who had some visual concerns, the other a resident of the Town but not a neighbor who was concerned with the use of approved pesticides, urging the use of goats to keep grass levels down.
