Earlier this spring, the Juniper Jill Cannabis Company (located at the Scarp Family Farm) was awarded one of the first conditional cannabis growing licenses by New York State. Under New York’s Cannabis legislation enacted in 2021, Juniper Jill will not be allowed to sell the product directly to the public. That will be done by approximately 100 dispensaries, still awaiting their conditional licenses.
Chief Operating Officer Jenny Scarpulla tells The Eastwick Press work is already underway to begin their cannabis growing operation, which will include outdoor growing, hoop houses and a greenhouse facility all on their 60-acre farm located on NYS Route 22. Ms. Scarpulla says “It will encompass state of the art growing technologies.” She ads their team works with a passion for what they do in an environmentally conscious way with stringent product testing.
When up and running later this year or early next, Juniper Jill plans to offer finished cannabis products such a flower and pre-rolls to processors and eventually to dispensaries. They also plan to offer a medicinal line of products grown from specific cannabis strains.
The license granted to Juniper Jill is conditional, but the company plans to apply for a full license when available.
Hemp Business
Ms. Scarpulla and her partners are already heavily involved in the growing of hemp and sale of CBD products. They operate a CBD and smoke shop retail business, known now as Hoosick Apothecary, at 14 John Street in Hoosick Falls.
