In December, the Hendrick Hudson Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution named Benjamin Chaput, a senior in the New Lebanon Central School District, the chapter’s Good Citizen. Subsequently Benjamin was recognized as the New York State DAR District III Good Citizen, the New York State DAR Good Citizen and finally the National Society DAR Northeastern Division Good Citizen, an honor shared by only seven other males in the country.
At the Hendrick Hudson Chapter’s Flag Day meeting on June 12, Benjamin, accompanied by his parents Amy and Jeffrey, was presented the Northeastern Division Good Citizen Award by Sandra Zerrillo, NYS Good Citizens Chair. She said, “For nearly nine decades, the DAR has recognized outstanding students who demonstrate the qualities of a good citizen. The DAR Good Citizens Committee’s goal is to recognize high school seniors who demonstrate the four qualities of a good citizen: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. It is my great honor to recognize Benjamin Chaput and his family. Benjamin excelled beyond our greatest expectations as he is the 2022 District III winner, the New York State male winner and the Northeastern Division male winner of the DAR Good Citizens Contest.”
