At the Stephentown Transfer Station

The Stephentown Transfer Station is now accepting cans of paint from residents holding Transfer Station permits, thanks to an arrangement between ERCSWMA and PaintCare. Cans of acceptable products of any size up to 5 gallons will be accepted, containing any amount of product. The cans must be the original cans for the product, clearly state the contents and be sealed and non-leaking. Acceptable products include interior and exterior latex, oil-based or enamel paint, deck coatings, floor paints, primers, sealers, undercoaters, stains, shellacs, lacquers, varnishes, urethanes, waterproofing sealers, metal coatings, rust preventatives, and field and lawn paints. Non-acceptable products include paint thinners, mineral spirits, solvents, aerosol paints, auto and marine paints, caulking compounds, epoxies, glues, or adhesives, wood preservatives, roof patch, asphalt, tar, deck cleaners, and traffic and road markings. Detailed fliers are available at the Transfer Station, the Town Clerk’s Office, the Town Website at https://www.townofstephentown.org and at https://www.paintcare.org/wp-content/uploads/docs/xx-factsheet-transfer-station.pdf. Initially, a limit of 5 containers per visit will be imposed. Please see the attendants at the Transfer Station who will assist you in loading cans into the PaintCare containers located in the area normally used for tires.
