Preparing for the Holiday Season

September 28, 2022 By Eastwick Press

The Hoosick Area Church Association (HACA) food pantry is stocking up needed supplies to assist over 200 families with food boxes for each of the holidays. With Thanksgiving and Christmas nearing, this is the time of year when the generosity of the community is vital.

This year, with inflation driving up food prices and supply issues leaving some shelves empty, the price of food is increasing and the availability is decreasing. The USDA supplies are smaller than they have been in past years as well.

HACA depends on the generosity of the churches, businesses, and community members. Monetary contributions will provide a holiday meal for those in need of emergency food during the year and holiday season. A donation of $1 purchases $6 of food from the Regional Food Bank. A donation of $50 provides a fully stocked holiday box. The holiday boxes include all the fixings for not only the holiday meal but up to 3 meals a day for 5 days, and will be provided for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Please help the food pantry continue this worthy cause by making a donation of any amount to feed a family in need.

Applications for the boxes will be available at the Food Pantry, all area churches, Hoosick Falls Central School, and several other places throughout the Town. For information call 518-646-1962 or email hacainc12090@gmail.com. Donations can be mailed to HACA, PO Box #1, 26 John Street, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.
