October 12, 2022 By Eastwick Press

Submitted by Rensselaer County Legislature Office of the Minority

Election 2022
Early Voting starts on Saturday, October 29, through Sunday, November 6 in Troy at 500 Federal Street, Town of Brunswick Office Building and Schodack Town Hall.  The times can be found at the Rensselaer County Board of Election website, www.rensco.com/429/Elections.

Election Law Update
Due to NYS Election Law amendments in 2022, once an absentee ballot is requested, you will no longer be eligible to vote in person, at either the early voting locations or the election day polling sites.

Did you know that there will be an Environmental Bond Act on the ballot this November? What is the Environmental Bond Act? Find out by visiting cityandstateny.com. Election Day is Tuesday, November 8, at your polling site.

Youth
Coats for Kids Campaign, the annual Golf Fundraiser at the Troy Country Club, was a great success with 148 golfers attending and raising $20,000. The Legislature passed a resolution to purchase 1,000 coats from B. Lodge in Albany, who also offered to donate hats and gloves, which will be distributed through several agencies to needy children. A big thank you goes to B. Lodge for their continued support of Rensselaer County youth.

Aging
The Legislature unanimously approved a resolution put forth by the Department of Aging to purchase furniture for the new Troy Senior Center. Due to supply chain issues, the estimated new opening date is planned for early 2023.
