Sheriffs’ No Shave November Continues

December 7, 2022 By Eastwick Press

By Amy Modesti
From November 1 through February 1, at 7 am, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) employees can grow beards, mustaches, and goatees to help raise money for START Children’s Center Inc. and the Rensselaer County Department for Youth (RCDY).

On Friday, December 2, Sheriff Patrick Russo, Undersheriff P.J. Higgitt, several members of the Sheriff’s Department, and Santa Claus presented RCDY’s Youth Service Worker Debbie Flemming and Deputy Commissioner Pierce Hoyt with a check for $6,100.

RCDY funds programs and services for local youth through programs such as Summer Food, Community Backpack, Coats for Kids, holiday raffle basket, and more.

The RCSD will soon present a second check benefitting START Children’s Center, Inc. This program aims to reduce child abuse and support non-offending family members in a child/family-friendly environment that enhances the investigation, prosecution, and long-term treatment processes.
