It was cold enough to freeze a witch’s broomstick in the Chambers during Tuesday evening’s regular meeting of the Rensselaer County Legislature. By the end of the meeting the temperature in the large room was 57 degrees. People started stamping their feet, not in political protest but just to stay warm. BCS Students Help With Irene Clean Up In Schoharie

On Saturday, October 8, seven Berlin students traveled to Schoharie to help with the continuing clean-up from Hurricane Irene. Berlin staff members, Karen Day and Michelle Halleran accompanied the students. Once there, they met up with Global History teacher Bob Gould, his wife Jess, a music teacher for the Schoharie school district, and their niece. On Friday night, under the lights in Greenwich, the Witches football team did something no other team in Section II had done this year – score touchdowns against the Hoosick Falls first team defense. Unfortunately for Greenwich, those points did not faze the Panthers, who responded almost immediately with touchdowns of their own on both scores.

Berlin Boys Cross Country Takes Second At Maple Hill Invy

The Berlin boys cross country team ran what Coach Rick Ingraham called one of its best races of the year on Saturday at the Maple Hill Invitational. Ingraham’s top five runners all finished within one minute of each other. With results like these, the Mountaineers hoped to knock off Berne-Knox-Westerlo, their biggest challenger in Class D this year.
