The Last Stephentown Extra Helpings

The ordering date for June bundles from the Extra Helpings Community Food Buying Club in Stephentown is Thursday, May 26, from 3:30 to 6 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church on Garfield Road. Because the Regional Food Bank is discontinuing the Extra Helpings program, this will be the last delivery.

Hubbard Hall has opened a new production of Merrily We Roll Along, a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Despite its upbeat title, it’s rather a sad story, with the lead character making a series of bad decisions that estrange him from those he loves, and make himself and them miserable.

Stephentown –  Eva Gladys ‘Sis’ Mayer was born in Springfield, MO, on December 29, 1904, and passed away on May 17, 2011. Eva went peacefully at the remarkable age of 106 in her home in Stephentown, NY, as were her wishes.
She was the daughter of Charles and Maude Jones Tyler of Springfield, MO.

Margaret Josephine Marie Kinn,  a former resident of Berlin, NY, died peacefully  on Monday, May 16, 2011, at the Village at Fillmore Pond, Bennington, VT, her residence for the last six years. She was 100 years old, three weeks shy of her 101st  birthday.

Gompert Committal Services

Committal services with military honors for Harry B Gompert Jr. are on Friday, May 20, at 1 pm in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Harry passed away on April 25, 2011, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He was the husband of the late Charlotte Gompert. He is survived by a son, Daniel Gompert, a daughter, Judith Cutler, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.

Tuesday, August 7, 1855: This morning at two o’clock John F. went to Pittsfield with my horse and lumber wagon  and carried 11½ bushels of potatoes at 75 cts per bushel, this afternoon he went with a butcher by the name of Warner from Pittsfield and sold him 22 lambs at 2 dol 25 cts per head.
