As 2010 draws to a close the Board of Directors and staff of the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition are thankful for the support of the community that allows us to provide programs, services and assistance to youth and families. We are honored to be a part of so many lives, and we intend to continue to serve the Hoosick area for years to come.

Hoosick Grange News
Hoosick Grange had its Christmas Party on December 8 with the Mennonite Family Singers. Marion Hynick was in charge of the program, and she introduced them. They sang the traditional Christmas songs and some unusual ones that we didn’t know. We were encouraged to sing along with them. The children sang some songs all by themselves.

Hoosick Falls Bowlers Reach Highest Pin Count Of Season
The Hoosick Falls bowling team beat Granville by the score of 4 to 0 on Monday, December 20, in Granville. They had their highest total pin count of the season with 3,836 pins to Granville’s 3,107. Hoosick Falls’ record is now 23-1, and Granville is 18-14.

Local Girl Scouts Selling Cookies In January
Beginning January 3, local Girl Scouts will be selling Girl Scout cookies to their families, friends and local businesses. As a result of this annual fund-raiser, our local scouts benefit with programs, events and travel opportunities they might not otherwise have. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The Berlin Fire Department Breakfast Has New Menu Items
On Sunday, January 2, from 7 to 11 am, the Berlin Fire Department will be holding its fresh, hot off the griddle monthly breakfast. For your eating pleasure we include all-you-can-eat pancakes and newly added French toast or biscuits for our homemade sausage gravy, your choice of sausage or newly added bacon, toast, home fries, and eggs (scrambled, sunny side, over easy or over hard). Beverage choices include coffee, tea, (both decaf available), hot chocolate, milk and orange juice. Prices are $6 for adults, $3 for kids 5-12, and free for kids under 5. Brunswick Golf Season Pass Raffle
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Brunswick Lodge of Elks is sponsoring a raffle for a 2011 Golf Season Pass at the Brunswick Greens Golf Course on Hoosick Road in Troy. Tickets costs $5, and only 100 will be sold. They are on sale now!
This fund-raiser will help support the Ladies’ major functions including Cerebral Palsy, Clothe a Child and a host of other charities.

The pass is not applicable to league or tournament play.

Petersburgh – Angela Jean Burke, 26, a former resident of Petersburgh, NY, died after being struck by a drunk driver in Portland, OR, while walking her bicycle in the bike lane on her way home from work on Wednesday, December 15, 2010.
Born March 8, 1984, in Silver Spring, MD, she was the daughter of Michael J. Burke and Linda Santoro and step-daughter of Athena Burke. She graduated from Berlin High School, Class of 2002. She continued her education and graduated in 2009 from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology.
