State Senate Hearing On PFOA Exposes Conflict Between NYS DOH and USEPA

DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos said at the State Senate Hearing held at the Hoosick Falls Central School High School auditorium that the State has spent $25 million already responding to the PFOA crisis and expects over the next ten years to spend another 50 million. He said his goal is to make the polluters pay the entire (projected) cost of $75 million, but he added that he expects EPA to reimburse New York State for any part of it that is not paid by the polluters. Lady Mountaineers Open Their CHVL League Play With A Shutout Of The Rensselaer Rams

The Berlin Girls’ Soccer Team had its first league contest at Rensselaer well in hand by halftime and cruised to a 6-0 victory over their Central Hudson Valley League opponent. Hoosick Grange News

On the August 10 meeting, the Hoosick Grange had a very successful Hot Dog Roast and Bingo Night. There were lots of prizes and Grangers and Guests had a good time.
On the August 24 meeting the Grange discussed the Schaghticoke Fair Booth. It was also election of officers night. Master David Cornell got elected again, then

Pomona – Marion Brenenstuhl
Flora – Mary Remancus
Flagbearer – Marion Brenenstuhl
Executive Committee – Ralph Philpott – 3 years, Marion Brenenstuhl – 2 years.
After the election of officers, the lecturer had a short program. She had a reading on “Fourth of July Father.” He saved his money all year for fireworks for his family and friends’ big picnic.
After the program they had root beer floats for refreshments. Our next meeting is on September 14 and it is a planning meeting. Everyone should bring ideas for programs.
David Cornell is in charge of refreshments.
