Donations for the three prizes at the Hoosick Falls Central School, and donations to NY State Grange were taken care of. Two June Dyken Pond Events Full Strawberry Moon Paddle and Hike

Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is offering two options for the Full Strawberry Moon on June 20 from 7 to 9 pm for the first day of summer.  Ian Keefe will lead a guided kayak paddle, while Leonard Tremblay will lead a hike at the same time. The guided paddle is limited to 12 boats so pre-registration is required and can be done by contacting the Center at dykenpond@gmail.com or 518-658-2055. Kayaks can be rented for $10, or you can bring your own.  Bring a picnic dinner beforehand if you’d like. Both tours are free.

Bennington Battlefield  “Path Through History Weekend”

William B. Sweet, Jr.

Berlin – William B. Sweet, Jr., 81, died peacefully at his home on Friday, June 3, 2016 with his family at his side.  Born in Pittsfield, MA on September 23, 1934, he was the son of the late William B. and Evelyn Huff Sweet, Sr.  Bill was raised in Stephentown and Berlin by his grandparents and was a graduate of Berlin High School.   He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War serving aboard the carrier, the USS Antietam as a radar operator for the flight squadron. Ashley E. Bentley, 29, a longtime resident of East Poestenkill, died on Sunday June 5, 2016 at Ellis Hospital after being stricken at her residence. Ashley was born in Albany and was the beloved daughter of Alan E. and Gloria Goodermote Bentley of East Poestenkill.
