Joe Rechen Declines To Run Again For Berlin Town Justice

To the Editor:

This letter is to announce that I will not seek a third term as Berlin’s Town Justice in November. I have served two full terms, and part of a prior, and have been able to appreciate both the Justice System and the needs of the defendants and complainants who have appeared before me. While I have no need to retire, I feel very strongly that two terms is only fair and appropriate for my service to the community, and that it is time for a new party to come forward and contribute their time and ability. Saturday, October 10, 1835 Today I went to Pittsfield with apples and cider. On the way I stopped to Mr. Clark’s tavern and settled up with his daughter for teaching our school this summer past.  I paid her nine dollars and she gave a receit and my daughter Angeline fetched the receit home. I went on to Pittsfield and sold out my load. I sold my apples at 25 to 37 cts per bushel. I had about 14 bushels. [Read more…] about Hiring Help
