Semi-Final Game – A Shooting Exhibition

Early Friday afternoon, the Lady Panthers put on a memorable shooting exhibition. Playing Irvington, the number one ranked team in NYS Class B, in the state semifinals at Hudson Valley Community College, the Panthers played well in the first half, holding a slim 20 – 17 lead at the end of the second quarter. Taconic Valley Youth Basketball Banquet

Tribute Flag Liberty Going To Hawaii

The upcoming trip to Hawaii for students at Hoosick Falls Central School is exciting. Some of them have never been in a plane. Others have never been out of the continental United States. Others have barely traveled at all. They are anxious to see everything there is to see and everything there is to do. They want to try snorkeling and surfing, among other things. But most of all they are pleased to be bringing the Town of Hoosick Tribute Flag “Liberty” with them and to see it flown at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl Crater in Honolulu. State Aid Mystery Hampers Budget Process

HFCS Business Manager Pam Hatfield said the budget proposed for next year has not changed much since last month because the District has still not received any State aid runs. School Superintendent Ken Facin explained that the budget is normally done based on state aid estimates derived from the Governor’s proposed budget, released in January. But this year the Governor will not say what he is recommending for state aid until the legislature agrees to his ideas on educational policy, and no information has been released to school districts about what they can expect in state aid. HAYC3’s Parasol Project To Benefit Community Art Program

On March 8, HAYC3 installed 33 hand painted parasols as part of The Parasol Project. Budget Uncertainty As State Aid Remains Unknown

If you are wondering what the 2105-2016 budget might look like for the Berlin Central School District, you can join the School Board and the school’s administrator in that wonderment. Larry Eckhardt Caps Ten Years With Farm Viability Institute

If farming in New York State is still thriving, despite loss of farms and rapidly changing opportunities and challenges, much of the credit goes to the New York Farm Viability Institute. One of the instigators and driving forces behind that organization has been Larry Eckhardt of Stephentown’s Kinderhook Creek Farm. Local Poets To Read At New Lebanon Library

Pottery Class At Petersburgh Library

The Petersburgh Public Library will be offering a two-part pottery program for vacationing school children (ages 8 and up) on Monday April 6 and Thursday April 9. Taught by Troy potter and instructor Bianca Dupuis, the program is called “Pinch Pots” and will introduce several methods of hand-building with clay.
