Hoosick Grange News

February 26, 2015 By eastwickpress

February 11 was a very cold night for a meeting. We had low attendance but completed our business, draped our charter in loving memory of Vera Griswold.

The Lecturer announced there wouldn’t be a meeting on February 25. Our next meeting is on March 11, and is contest night – photography contest and zucchini bread. Lets have lots of entries. We had our lecturer’s program, a movie “BABE” that was very good, and refreshments. Refreshment Committee for March 11 is Kendall Baker.

On March 5, there will be an A.S.A. (Agricultural Stewardship Association) meeting at Hoosick Grange Hall. This is a pre-application meeting, for anyone interested, and is open to the public. This is on Thursday March 5, 1 pm to 3 pm. All are welcome who are interested.

The New Lebanon Library will present “Anatomy of an Indie Novel: Moving from Concept to Publication” on Thursday, March, 5 at 6:30 pm. This event, part of the Berkshire Festival of Women’s Writers, is free and open to the public.

Publishing a book is a highly collaborative effort. This program will present the elements that went into creating the novel Rock Angel: writing, editing, publishing, marketing and art design. The panel will consist of local author and librarian Jeanne Bogino, Prashanti Press CEO Wendy Lipp, freelance editor Marlene Adelstein, and graphic artist and cover designer Julie Metz. Gina Coleman, marketing director of Prashanti Press, will moderate. The presentation, which will shine a light on the pros and cons of independent publishing, will be followed by audience discussion and Q&A.

For further information on this event, please call the library at (518) 794-8844. The library is located at 550 State Route 20, 1/4 mile north of the yellow blinking light at the intersection of Routes 20/22.
