The New Lebanon Library Events

All of these events are free and will take place at the library which is located at 550 State Route 20.

February 9, 23 (event is every other Monday)

Study the Constitution – 7:00 pm. Bi-weekly discussion group focusing on the study of the Constitution. Interested participants should bring their questions and be ready to share their opinions.

February 13

Valentine Dance Party – 7 pm. An evening of romantic acoustic music with Divinitress. Dancing, Valentine sweets and crafts for kids. Donations for the performer appreciated.

February 17

Kids Stuff: Animal Tracks – 2 pm. Join us to learn about track patterns, identify the animals that made them and make plaster casts of local animals. All materials provided.

February 18, 25 (Wednesdays)

Small Wonders Storytime – 10 am. Songs, movement activities and age-appropriate stories for our younger patrons and their caregivers. For toddlers up to 35 months.

February 18, 25 (Wednesdays)

Preschool Story Hour – 11 am. Story hour includes crafts, songs, and movement activities. For 35 months to 5 yrs.

February 19

Family Crafts Night – 6:30 pm. Join us and make a heart suncatcher. All materials provided. For ages 5 and up.

February 20

Afternoon Movie for Kids – 1 pm. Join us for a screening of the current film suitable for the whole family. Call for title.

February 20

Tom Abdow in concert – 6:30 pm. An evening of acoustic folk, country and rock music. Donations for the performer appreciated.

February 21

Paws-to-Read – 9 am. Therapy dogs come to the library and children read to their furry friends. And, of course, the dogs listen! Please call to register.

February 24

Block Party: Legos in the Library! – 4 to 5:30 pm. Lego club for kids. We provide the Legos and will display all creations in the library until the next club.

Free Program: Using The Internet For Your Job Search At Grafton Community Library

On Thursday, February 26 at 4 pm, Grafton Community Library will present a free program on using the Internet in your job search. Taught by professional job counselors from Rensselaer County One Stop, the program will cover topics including how the Internet has changed the way we look for work, how to effectively search for jobs on the Internet, and how to make sure that employers see your application.

It is the first in a series of eight programs that the library will present this spring covering a wide range of skills necessary for job seekers today. Future topics will include effective resume writing, computer skills for job seekers, acing the interview, and using social media in your job search. Grafton Library staff and community volunteers are also available at the library by appointment to provide one-on-one help with all aspects of your job search. Tarot Workshops At HAYC3

Need guidance on life decisions?  Are you interested in tapping into universal wisdom through Tarot? Sign up for one or all of March’s Tarot Workshop Series.

Taste of Tarot is a great way of being introduced to the Art of Tarot. The introductory class will be held on Tuesday, March 3, from 6 to 8 pm. The cost is $30. If you are interested in expanding on the basics of Tarot then join the Tarot 101 class. This four week workshop will teach participants the meaning of the Tarot Cards, the symbolism of the images in the cards and techniques and everything you need to know to begin reading the cards. This class begins on Friday, March 6, from 6 to 8 pm. The cost is $120.

If you are interested in combining creativity and Tarot then The Art of the Tarot will offer both. Come collage your own Tarot card. This class is on Monday, March 30, from 6 to 8 pm and cost $40.

Private Tarot Readings are also available.  Thity minute sessions are $30 or an hour reading is $60. Instructor Jeannie Thomma has been practicing the ancient arts of Tarot and Palmistry for the last decade. As a master teacher and reader she enjoys exploring the visual symbols of the Tarot with her students and clients, offering them new paths for developing their own intuitive strengths.

Hoosick Federal Credit Union Annual Meeting To Be Held On March 4 – (Wednesday evening 6 pm until 7:30 pm)

The Board of Directors and Jim Martinez (President) of the Hoosick Federal Credit Union at 28 Church Street in Hoosick Falls invite all to join them for the annual meeting and election of Board members to be held at the Hoosick Falls Central School High School Cafeteria.  Come enjoy a nice dinner (catered by the topnotch HFCS dining staff) while you hear the “State of the Credit Union” detailing what happened in 2014 and what we have in store for 2015. The meeting will conclude with door prizes.

4-H Pre-Teen Fun Day “AEROSPACE”

A Day Of STEM For Rensselaer County Youth

A day of fun science projects designed to introduce young people to the wonders of science will be held Saturday, February 14, 9:30 am to 2 pm at the Brittonkill/ Tamarac Middle School. It is open to all youth in Rensselaer County in grades K-6

4-H Teens will engage youth in different projects including: building and launching stomp rockets, designing airplanes, discovering how hovers work and a community service project; making Valentine’s Day Cards to be delivered to Van Rensselaer Manor.  Lunch (pizza) and light snacks will be included.

The cost is $10 for non 4-H youth which includes one year enrollment fee, payable at the door.  Additionally, any non 4-H member participant must have a parent at check-in the day of the program to complete mandatory paperwork and attend a short 4-H Parent Orientation that will be held at 9:30, after morning check-in.

To register please call Kandis at the 4-H office by Friday, February 13 by 4 pm at 272-4210 x106. Space is limited.

The day will be fully run by the Rensselaer County 4-H Teen Council.  This is a Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County Program.  If any participant has special needs that need to be taken into consideration, please indicate that at the time of registration.  Cornell Cooperative Extension is an employer and educator recognized for valuing AA/EEO, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities and provides equal program and employment opportunities.

Grafton Fire Dept. Breakfast

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be serving you an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, February 28 from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85).  On the menu: Belgian waffles, pancakes, french toast, eggs (made to order) , sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee, and milk.  Cost is $10 per adult, kids 12 and under $5, kids 5 and under FREE!  We look forward to serving you!
