Social Media 101 At The Grafton Library
On Saturday, February 7, at 10:30 am, the Grafton Community Library will host the next program in its “Get Savvy about Computers” series. Digital Literacy Coordinator Sarah McFadden will be talking about all different kinds of social media, like Facebook®, Twitter®, Instagram®, professional sites like Linked In®, and more. She will explain what they are, how the work and help attendees know how to use them safely and effectively.

Winter Warm-Up Cooking Classes Scheduled At HAYC3’s Hoosick Kitchen
Warm-Up in February with our Adult Cooking Class: Soup, Soup, Soup! Taught by local Chef, Kelly O’Connor, this hands-on culinary class will be held on February 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in our certified kitchen. The Hoosick Kitchen is located downstairs in the HAYC3 Armory at 80 Church Street. This class will spotlight some new twists on old favorites and a few new flavors you might not have thought of. Participants will sample and take home the soups that they prepared in class. (Please bring three containers.) The cost of this class (including supplies) is $15.
Little Sweetie Baking Class
The Little Sweetie Baking Class is designed for our young bakers from ages 8 to 12. This class will teach our younger chefs baking skills, perfect for Valentine’s Day. The class will be held on Friday, February 6, from 4 to 5:30 pm. Participants will take home a gift bag of goodies. The cost for the class is $10 and is limited to ten participants.

Berlin FD Monthly Breakfast
On Sunday, February 1, from 7 to 11 am, the Berlin Fire Department will be holding its monthly breakfast. Breakfast includes all you can eat pancakes, French toast, biscuits with homemade sausage gravy, bacon and sausage, home fries, toast and eggs any style (sunny side, over easy or over hard, scrambled). Beverage choices are coffee or tea (both available as decaf), hot chocolate, milk and orange juice.
Prices are $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12 and free for children under 5. Takeouts are available by calling 658-2890.
HAYC3 Offers Yoga Program In February
HAYC3’s Yoga Program will begin on Wednesday, February 4, at 5:45 pm. This four week program will be held at the HAYC3 Armory located at 80 Church Street in Hoosick Falls. Rensselaer Land Trust Snowshoe/Ski Outing At Mattison Hollow
On Saturday, February 7, at 1 pm, the Rensselaer Land Trust will lead a snowshoe/cross-country ski trip at Mattison Hollow in Cherry Plain. We’ll use private trails to see a waterfall in its winter splendor. If snow conditions are poor, we’ll hike. • Thursday, February 5 – Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park Meeting at 7 pm. Join this wonderful group of outdoor enthusiasts as they make plans for trail improvements, Park events and new amenities for the public. Meet at the Park Office.
• Monday, February 16 – Snowshoe Explore at 1 pm. Learn to use snowshoes and head out into GLSP on an adventure.
Freddie Bouplon
Hoosick Falls – Freddie Bouplon, 71, passed away peacefully at his home after being diagnosed with mesothelioma in May of 2014. Nothing was more important to him than his wife, Barbara Ann (Powers) Bouplon. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 3, 2014, with their children and grandchildren, at Hedges Lake.
Joseph J. Cullen
Hoosick Falls – Joseph J. Cullen, 96, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015, at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY, surrounded by his family. He had resided on River Street with his wife Delight (Hogan) Cullen.
Born on December 31, 1918, Joe was the son of Thomas and Anna (Evers) Cullen. He attended St. Mary’s Academy. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II with the 5th Combat Cargo Squadron and receiving the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was very active in the community of Hoosick Falls serving as President of the St Mary’s Academy Booster Club and the Hoosick Falls Little League. He was a member of the Elks, the Derby Club and the St. Mary’s Alumni. Joe worked at the former Wood Flong Corporation, the Hoosick Falls Community Center for thirty-five years, the Village Liquor Store and the OTB Parlor for twenty years. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors other than his wife Delight include their children, Elizabeth “Betse” Cullen and Robert Alexander of Albany, NY, Kevin and wife Cindy Cullen of Niskayuna, NY, and M. Patrice and husband Joe Zedalis of Hoosick Falls, grandchildren, Caleb and Kady Cullen, Kallyn Alexander and Conner and Payton Zedalis, and several nieces and nephews. Joe is pre-deceased by four sisters, Mary Hennessy, Anna Milliman, Katherine Onley and Margaret Sears, and three brothers, John, Thomas and Louis Cullen.
A Mass of Christian Burial is on Friday, January 30, at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Committal services will be at 12:30 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon/Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090, on Thursday, January 29, from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mary’s Academy or the Karen & Molly McGovern Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
