Wesley Edwards Retirement Reception

“I don’t think there’s another one in the State,” said Dennis Quinn, President of the New York State Magistrates Association when presenting a 50 year service pin to Wesley Edwards. The occasion was a retirement reception held at the Stephentown Fire Hall on Sunday, November 2, to honor Edwards, who at the end of the year will step down from the bench, having completed actually 51 years as judge in Stephentown.

2014 Eastwick Election Results

The General Election race for Governor reflected the earlier results of the Democratic Primary in which Governor Cuomo won against Zephyr Teachout statewide but did poorly in the Eastwick area and in upstate generally. In Tuesday’s election Cuomo defeated Republican challenger Rob Astorino taking 54% of the vote. All of the Eastwick towns, however preferred Astorino who won in Grafton with 67% and even squeaked by in New Lebanon with 47%. [Read more…] about 2014 Eastwick Election Results
Eagle Scout Project Benefits Berlin Library

The Berlin Library is sporting a beautiful new bluestone patio. The new gathering place, outdoor reading room and venue for musical performances and summer readings is located behind the Library building on South Main Street and is the work of Eagle Scout candidate Tim Shupe. A ribbon cutting ceremony introducing and opening the patio to the public was held on Saturday, November 1. Present for the occasion, among many others, were County Executive Kathy Jimino, County Legislator Stan Brownell and Berlin Town Supervisor Rob Jaeger.

HFCS Junior Honor Society Named For Isabel McGuire

During the HFCS Phillip Leonard Chapter National Honor Society Induction Ceremony Tuesday evening, October 28, Isabel McGuire’s fellow teacher and close friend, Ellie Danforth, announced that a Junior Honor Society for seventh and eighth grade students would be formed and named in honor of the late beloved math teacher and Honor Society Advisor Isabel McGuire. Danforth said everyone was invited to the Induction Ceremony at 7 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Panthers Crush Corinth, 45 – 14, Super Bowl Bound

Last Saturday the Panthers took to the Stillwater field on a cold, blustery day. A win would give the Panthers a chance to participate in the 2014 Section II, Class C Super Bowl. The team was playing Corinth, a team they faced several weeks earlier and didn’t play particularly well against. The Panthers defeated the Warriors 30 – 7 in that earlier game but struggled doing it.

The HFCS Field Hockey Team Bows Out In Regionals

The Lady Panthers field hockey team played three big games over the last week. By playing their way through Sectional competition, the Ladies earned the right to represent Section II in the Class C regionals.
