Petersburgh Town Board Action – Highway Superintendent Ray Harrison Resigns

The Petersburgh Town Board accepted the resignation of Highway Superintendent Ray Harrison at its October 20 meeting. His last day working for the Town will be October 31.

He has taken a job working for the County highway crew, and he will start there at the beginning of November.

Hoosick Town Board Action – Hearings On Two Local Laws Scheduled

At the Town of Hoosick Board meeting on Thursday, October 16, the Board scheduled two public hearings to be held on Monday, November 10. The first, which pertains to Local Law #3 of 2014, the new proposed home owner Property Maintenance Law, will be held at 6 pm. The second pertains to the Town’s Site Plan Review Law, which will be changed in its entirety. That hearing will begin at 6:30 pm.

At its next regular meeting, following the Public Hearings, the Board will vote to eliminate the Family Subdivision law.

Grafton Town Board Action – Butter Wouldn’t Melt

Perhaps it was the big bowl of candy, with plenty of root beer barrels, that appeared at the front table for the first time at this Grafton Town Board meeting on Monday, October 20, or the presence of nice kids in the audience trying to contribute to their community but, whatever, butter wouldn’t have melted in the mouths of the members of the Grafton Town Board. Hoosick Rising Gets Specific

Hoosick Falls Mayor David Borge opened the fourth Hoosick Rising meeting on September 25 by thanking everyone for coming, noting that every session has brought a larger crowd. He pointed out some very positive articles that have been published in recent weeks. “We have to find ways to continue that great press,” he said. “We have three terrific schools in the area and a lot of good stuff going on.” Town of Hoosick Supervisor Mark Surdam said work on repairing the Pool has started and will be completed by June 1 next year. Village Deputy Mayor Ric DiDonato said the Village is working with an emerging technology to improve the water and sewer pumps.

Stephentown Town Board Action – Business As Usual

There were no reports of murdered pigs. The Supervisor had no run-ins with bears. There were no accusations of malfeasance, misfeasance or nonfeasance. Hoosick Planning Board Action – Concerns About New Hathaway’s Drive-In Screen

Duane Greenawalt, owner of Hathaway’s Drive-In movie theater, approached the Town of Hoosick Planning Board at its regular meeting on Monday, October 20, seeking to erect a second screen at the Drive-In so he can show two movies simultaneously. October 2014 HFCS Board Meeting

The Hoosick Falls Board of Education meeting began with Junior Class officers presenting information to the Board about their Prom, which is planned for May 16, 2015 at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom in Troy. They said it will cost about $50 per person, and the Board approved it.

A Great Day For A Cow Plop

Sunday, October 12, was a great day for a Cow Plop. The weather was ideal! The antique cars gleamed in the sun. There were plenty of games to play and rides in the barrel train for the kids. Folks waited in a long line for food and soft drinks. The grid squares were sold out early. There was even a Cow Plop song!
