Jumping To Conclusions: Charges Filed Against Callie Crisp

NY State Police were called just after midnight on Thursday, September 25, by Bea Peterson from the Eastwick Press office and responded, in the early morning hours, to a  number of other calls about a horse wandering around on Route 2 in Petersburgh. Not knowing whose horse it was, the Troopers called Lisa DeMayo of Bonnie Lea Farm in Williamstown, MA, who came out in the middle of the night to take the horse back to her farm.

Public Hearing On The Old St. Mary’s Development

On Wednesday, October 1, Jason Von Guinness, accompanied by his wife Jessica, attended a public hearing of the Hoosick Falls Planning Board to discuss his plan to turn the old St. Mary’s Building into six one bedroom 1,600 square foot apartments and to retain the entire basement for living quarters for him and his wife. Local Women Of Distinction

Four Fat Fowl

Four fat what? The typical lease contract or indenture for early settlers on land in Rensselaerwyck specified that the renter of about 100 acres, besides performing annually a day of service with carriage and horses, must also pay “yearly rent of twenty four Bushels of good merchantable winter wheat (and) four fat fowls…” to be delivered at the Mansion house of Stephen Van Rensselaer.

Final DEA Drug Drop Off Was Saturday

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration recently announced that it will no longer conduct Drug Drop Off Days. The Agency is working on plans for unused prescription drugs to be turned in at pharmacies, hospitals and other facilities instead.

Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary Charlie Dogs And Can Auction

The Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary will host one of its annual Charlie Hot Dog fund-raisers on Friday, October 10, at the Fire House. This year we will be combining it with our popular Can Auction as well. Both events will begin at 4 pm and run until 6 pm.

The cost for the hot dogs remains the same at $9 per dozen, $4.50 ½ dozen or $.75 each. If you’d like to pre-order your dogs, please call Janet Snyder at 339-7311 or 658-3053 prior to the 10th.

Those who stop by and participate in the Can Auction will have the opportunity to win some wonderful items and/or gift certificates graciously donated by local vendors for just $ .25 a chance.

BFD Annual Lobster Bake

Come join us for the Annual Lobster Bake on October 18 at the Berlin Firehouse on Community Avenue sponsored by the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.

Take-outs are from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The sit down meal will be served from  6 to 8 pm.

The price is $21 for a single lobster dinner, $30 for a double lobster dinner and $39 triple lobster dinner.
