Berkshire musician Doug Schmolze will be performing at the New Lebanon Library on Friday, June 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public, although donations for the performer are appreciated.

The Firebird At The Petersburgh Public Library
The Petersburgh Public Library is kicking off its Summer Reading Program with a presentation of The Puppet People’s newest puppet production “The Firebird” on Thursday, June 27, at 7 pm. The program will be held at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center. Everyone is invited to join us for this wonderful show which is inspired by the Russian folktale and popular ballet The Firebird. Watch as even the impossible is possible, as the mythical firebird comes to life and Ivan and Princess Yelena team up to break the enchantment placed over their kingdom. This 50 minute magical puppet fantasy features beautifully handcrafted marionettes, lavish costumes, vivid sets and a large body puppet masterly accompanied by Stravinsky’s musical score from the ballet The Firebird.
Petersburgh Public Library has begun sign up for the summer reading program. Adults, teens and children are all invited to participate. The first 100 people to sign up will be given a book bag to carry their books back and forth to the library. There will be prizes for all the children and teens at the end of the summer. For each book read by teens and adults they are invited to place an entry into a prize can. On August 14 the winners names will be drawn and the prizes awarded as well as prizes to all children who completed the reading requirements.
On July 1 at 10:30 am there will be a “Dig Into Reading Magic Show” with Domino the Great who is NY’s favorite and sought after comedy magician and children’s entertainer. Everyone is invited to come for this most amazing show.
On Tuesday, July 2, at 11 am all preschoolers and their parents or care providers are encouraged to attend our “I Dig Gardening” Story Hour. There will be stories, activities, crafts and a snack.
From 2 to 4 pm on Wednesday, July 3, children in grades k-6 are invited to stop by the Library to decorate a flower pot to take home with a flower. All materials will be provided.
Author Julia Pomeroy At The New Lebanon Library
On Thursday, June 20, at 6:30 pm Columbia County author Julia Pomeroy will read from her book, No Safe Ground, at the New Lebanon Library. The reading will be followed by Q&A, a book signing and an author reception with light refreshments.

New Lebanon Travel Club Hosts Pancake Breakfast
The New Lebanon High School Travel Club will have a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon on Sunday, June 23, from 9 to 11:30 am. Breakfast includes two pancakes, two sausages, two pieces of bacon and a beverage.
Tickets are being sold by Travel Club members for $20 for a family of five, $5 per person and $2 for children four and under. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

The Coach Baker Fund Weekend Auction Items
The Coach Baker Fund Weekend, a fun filled auction, dinner, golf and basketball tournament weekend, begins this Friday.
The committee that coordinates the event has released the items that will be auctioned Friday night starting at 6 pm with a silent auction and finishing with a live auction with Ron Seifert as auctioneer starting at 8 pm.
The items include four original oil paintings from Ann Baker, an iPod Nano, a Jawbone Jambox & itunes gift card, a barbecue grill, a Key West rental, four Philadelphia Eagle tickets, four West Point football tickets, two paintings on consignment from George Van Hook, a two night stay at the Ipswich Inn, an oil painting by Kathy Idleman, earrings and a bracelet from Katie Cleaver Metalsmith, a fly fishing excursion, a Vermont house rental, top soil and a cord of wood, a Lawrence Taylor signed football, an original oil painting from Roxanne Hilsman, shrubs and/or landscaping services from Suttonscapes, patio furniture from Eastern Castings and Telescope Furniture, a golf package, two hours entertainment by 3’s Harmony, a massage certificate from Julie Richards and two Yankee baseball tickets.
The Sixth Annual Coach Baker Fund Weekend will be June 14-15 at the Hoosick Falls Country Club. The Cambridge, Hoosick Falls and surrounding communities are all encouraged to come and visit.

The Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors Book
The long awaited book, Remembrances and Recipes of the Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors, has arrived. There are stories from the lives of 31 seniors. There are 120 of their recipes. The book is available at the Petersburgh Seniors meeting at 5 pm on the second Tuesday of each month, at the Petersburgh Library and at Papa’s Pizzeria.
For those who have pre-ordered, you can also pick up the book at Mary Lou Walter’s house. Call 518-658-0136 for details. The cost of each book is $10.
Healing Arts & Psychic Festival
A Healing Arts & Psychic Festival will be held from 12 to 6 pm on Saturday, June 15, at the Hoosick Falls Armory, 80 Church Street. The festival will offer holistic health practitioners, readings from psychics, animal communicators, tarot, nutrition, therapeutic touch, gems, jewelry, massages, reiki and more.
Free workshops on Healing Foods, Mandalas, Auras and Sacred Sounds will be offered with admission. Admission is $5 for HAYC3 members and $7 for non-members.

Berlin Planning Board Meeting Changed
The June 28 Berlin Planning Board meeting has been changed to June 20 at 6 pm.

North Hoosick Fire Dept. Kids Dance
The North Hoosick Fire Department will hold a kids dance on Friday, June 14, from 7 to 10 pm at the fire station on Rt. 22. Students ages 9 to 15 and who attend local schools are invited.
There are only two more dances left in the school year. The last regular dance scheduled at the fire station is on Friday, June 28, and the final dance of the school year will be the annual pool dance at the Town of Hoosick community pool in Hoosick Falls on Friday, July 12. Tickets for the pool dance can be purchased at the last two regular dances at the firehouse.
Field Trip Planned By Cambridge Farm And Garden
The next meeting of the Cambridge Area Branch of the Woman’s National Farm and Garden will be Thursday, June 20, and will be a field trip to George Allen’s Farm in Easton, NY. Members who wish to car pool should meet at the Methodist Church parking lot in Cambridge at 10:30 am. The tour will begin at 11 am. Yvonne Lynds, Vice-President, has made the arrangements for the outing.
