HAYC3 Supports Prescription Take Back Day

September 28, 2012 By eastwickpress

The community is invited to bring unused prescription drugs to the Hoosick Falls Village Police Department on Saturday, September 29, from 10 am to 1 pm. This opportunity to safely discard unwanted medications is sponsored by HAYC3.
Abuse of prescription drugs has skyrocketed among teens. Most youths abusing these drugs say they obtain them from their friends or relatives without their knowledge. The first place they often find them is in a medicine cabinet. Many teens believe using prescription or over-the-counter medicines to get high is safer and less risky than using street drugs. They can also obtain them for free.

Letter To The Editor – Misplaced Priorities?

September 28, 2012 By eastwickpress

To the Editor;
I am writing in reference to a financial issue we are facing in the Town of New Lebanon. Our local cemetery is presently facing bankruptcy, and, should this happen, it will fall to the Town to take care of it. State Law prevents Town owned cemeteries from ever selling plots again, which means the cemetery would no longer be self-sustaining. We have also struggled to repair and add-on to our Town Hall, upgrade our park, etc. Yet, our local library is receiving an annual grant from the Town in excess of  $135,000.
