Hoosick Falls – Ann G. Graney, 80, of Hoosick Falls, NY, passed peacefully into her eternal life on August 11, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 10, 1932, in Hoosick Falls to Francis T. and Agnes A. (Griffin) Guiden.  She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls and attended Troy Business College.

Petersburgh – Geraldine Louise Smith Goodermote passed away peacefully August 8, 2012, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls at the age of 88. She had lived in Petersburgh, NY, her entire life until moving to the Health Center in 2009. Geraldine was the daughter of the late William Smith and Miranda Sweet Smith of Petersburgh.

Hoosick ZBA Approves Recycling Plant; Planning Board Next

The Town of Hoosick Zoning Board of Appeals held a Public Hearing on Monday evening, August 6, on the establishment of a metal recycling facility in the former Bennington Paperboard buildings and the construction of a pole barn warehouse on property on Hill Road belonging to artist Jenny Holzer. The room was filled with people interested to hear about the two projects. After listening to a description of the work and the public comments regarding the projects, the Board approved them. Chairman of the Board Jim Hoag said all the information they have received regarding the two proposals will be passed on to the Hoosick Planning Board, which will meet on Monday, August 20.

Motocross Environmental Impact Statement Not Yet Adequate

Howard Commander’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement for his proposed Motocross park was deemed not yet adequate for public review by the Stephentown Zoning Board of Appeals at their meeting on August 2. The Board accepted a recommendation from their consulting engineer, Michael Bianchino of Clough Harbour Associates (CHA), who had reviewed the DEIS and found a number of areas lacking sufficient information.
