Serious Questions At The Grafton Town Board Meeting

A question from former Supervisor Tyler Sawyer at public comment time at the end of the Grafton Town Board meeting on Monday brought forth the information from Deputy Supervisor Cathy Goyer that she had expanded the hours of the Secretary to the Supervisor to full time. She said she did this “a week or two after the May Town Board Meeting.”
This appeared to be news to all four of the elected Board members. Both Barbara Messenger and Rick Ungaro told this reporter they learned about this “today.”

Stephentown ZBA Sued Over Motocross

As he did two years ago, Lewis B. Oliver, Jr., attorney for residents seeking to block Howard Commander’s proposed Motocross park, has again filed an Article 78 proceeding against the Stephentown Zoning Board of Appeals. Oliver is challenging a decision the Board made in March in which, by a 3-2 vote following a public hearing, they rejected an appeal of the Code Enforcement Officer’s determination that no area variance would be needed for the project’s access road which is within 25 feet of a neighboring property. Hoosick Town Board Action – Land Use Law Revised

A Public Hearing was held before the regular Town of Hoosick Board meeting on Monday, June 11. No one attended the hearing to comment on the proposed changes to the Town’s Land Use Law. During the meeting that followed, Local Law No. 1 of 2012 amended Local Law No. 2 of 2009 in relation to permitted uses in light/industrial commercial zones, minimum setbacks, maximum building height limit, non-conforming uses, special permits and definition.

Village of Hoosick Falls Board Meeting – No Burning

The Hoosick Falls Village Board meeting on Tuesday, June 12, began with a Public Hearing on Local Law No. 1. When the hearing closed, the Board voted to approve the Law which prohibits the burning of garbage, rubbish and refuse and regulates open burning and recreational fires within the Village. Rensselaer County Legislature – Polish Hall Recognized On 100th Anniversary

At its meeting on Tuesday evening the Rensselaer County Legislature passed a resolution commending the Society of St. Stanislaw, “The Polish Hall,” in Hoosick Falls upon celebrating its one hundredth anniversary. The resolution says, “Consistent with the duty of this Legislative body to recognize the contributions and achievements of organizations of service to Rensselaer County, we praise with respect and admiration the Society of St. Stanislaw as it reaches an important milestone.”

New Lebanon Town Board Action – Town Hall Project Progressing Swiftly

Onward and downward goes New Lebanon’s new Town Hall. “If everything goes to plan we will be digging the trenches next week,” said Councilmember Bruce Baldwin at Tuesday’s monthly Town Board meeting. “It’s moving quite swiftly.”

Hoosick Falls 10U And 12U Mid-Season Softball Tournament

The 3rd Annual Hoosick Falls 10U and 12U mid-season softball tournament was held on June 8 – 10. The mid-season tournament was started to allow all league players the chance to play in a fun and competitive style tournament. The weather turned out great; the games were very competitive; the parking lots were packed, and the parents and spectators in attendance were treated to excellent softball games.
