Supervisor Krahforst said the renovations to the Town Hall which he has undertaken have exceeded the sums budgeted and there is no more money in this fiscal year for work on the Town Hall.
Councilman David Alderman said the digging to install the new light had caused one part of the walkway to sag by a couple of inches, which made it difficult to get a wheelchair up the walkway. He urged that the whole sidewalk be rebuilt, but, as there was no money available for such a project, Highway Superintendent Ray Harrison said he would come the next day and lift the sunken section back where it belongs.

Grafton Planning Board Meeting – Quorum Call

The Grafton Planning Board meeting on Monday, May 21, began 14 minutes late while Planning Board Chairman Tom Withcuskey rounded up a quorum. Luckily, there were no public hearings and no new business on the agenda. During the meeting, two items of old business were voted on and approved. One was the Boyce subdivision on South Long Pond Road and the other was the Halloran-Andriano subdivision on Clickner Road. The approval of Richard Lundy’s riding stable on Kautz Hollow Road was postponed for a month.

Memorial Day Rites 2012

This year Memorial Day Rites will start at 8 am sharp in Wood Park with a flag raising ceremony under the direction of American Legion Post #40 Commander Walter C. Zwinge. Immediately afterwards wreaths will be placed at the new Veterans Memorial Wall. A short service will follow, and the Color Guard will fire a salute for all deceased veterans. Taps will be sounded.

The weather was absolutely perfect for the 2012 Hoosick Falls Central School Prom on Saturday, May 19. The Grand March took place at the school at 4:30 pm. Panther Softball Crushes Sectional Foe

The Hoosick Falls Lady Panther softball team finished the regular season late last week with a 14 – 6 record. Of special note, at the end of the regular season, senior pitcher Rachel Quackenbush had a strikeout total of 1,482. In the New York State record books, this would put her in second place all time. The number one total, set in 2008, is 1,603. Rachel has signed to play for the Division I Siena Saints softball squad.

Mike Bornt Retiring
Mike Bornt, a Hoosick Falls Central School bus driver for 30 years, is retiring in June. Family, friends and former students who rode on his bus are invited to celebrate with Mike on Sunday, June 3. The party will be from 2 until 4 pm at the Hoosick Falls Fire House. Please come and help celebrate with him and wish him well.
BCS Agriculture Club Heirloom Plant Sale
