Hoosick Falls Elementary School Accepting Universal Pre-Kindergarten Applications

The Hoosick Falls Central School District is currently looking for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) class of 2012-2013. UPK is a special program established by the State Education Department to provide an early learning experience for the children of eligible families. Eligible families are defined as those who live in the Hoosick Falls School District and have children who will be four years old on or before December 1, 2012.

HFCS Christian Action Award

Applications are available through Hoosick Falls Central School guidance and local churches for the 2012 Christian Action Award. This award is given to a graduating senior of HFCS who displays outstanding Christian leadership, community involvement and Christian values. The award is given at Baccalaureate.
This year’s service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on June 20. 2012 at 7 pm.

Stephentown’s Future

Sustainable Stephentown will hold its next meeting on Thursday, April 19, from 7 to 9 pm at the Stephentown Memorial Library to continue the discussion about creating a revitalized Stephentown. We have begun to identify key areas/projects on which to focus. This is an ongoing conversation, and the public is welcome to join the discussion. SVFD Roast Beef Dinner

The annual Stephentown Vol. Fire Dept. Roast Beef Dinner is Saturday, April 21, from 4 to 7 pm at the Stephentown Fire Hall. The meal costs $10 for adult and take-out dinners, $7 for kids 6-10 and free for those under 6.

Lillis Bunce Memorial Award

Applications are being accepted for the Lillis Bunce Memorial Award. This $200 award is offered by the Grafton Community Library Board of Trustees in recognition of the lifetime community service of the late Lillis Bunce of Grafton. The purpose of this award is to encourage and reward the community service of our youth as demonstrated by the example Mrs. Bunce set throughout her life. Mrs. Bunce served faithfully and generously as a volunteer in many areas of her community such as the Library, her church, the Town, scouts and more.

It is the tale of Fred, an out of work slacker, who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny and must take him in as he recovers. As Fred struggles with the world’s worst house guest both will learn what it takes to finally grow up. This movie is rated PG. Popcorn and drinks will be served. Tsatsawassa Fire Company Monthly Breakfast

The Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company will hold its monthly breakfast on Sunday, April 15, with servings from 8 to 11 am at a cost of $6 per person. Breakfast consists of your choice of French toast or pancakes, as well as bacon or sausage, toast, orange juice, applesauce, beverages and eggs prepared to your specifications.

Beryl Moul Scholarship

The Beryl H. Moul Memorial Grange Scholarship was established in 1958 by West Sand Lake Grange #949 in memory of prominent Grange Member Beryl H. Moul.  Applicants must be Rensselaer County residents (for at least 4 years) and must be accepted in an accredited 2 or 4 year college program pursuing a career in agriculture, home economics, nursing, natural resource management, environmental engineering or pharmacology.
