Born in Troy, NY, on November 9, 1939, she was the daughter of Delmar Amidon and Mildred Lackey Amidon Michaels. She graduated as salutatorian from Berlin Central School, NY, in 1957. Stella also graduated from Paterson State Teachers College, Patterson, NJ, and attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. Stella was known for her love of cats.
