Helen Cogan

Stephentown – Helen Olga Aubrey Cogan, 99, died on February 4, 2009, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, MA.

 

Born in November of 1909 in Calcutta, India, she began her education there before being sent back to England after World War I to complete school. She worked in London as a secretary for many years. In 1932 she sailed to the Philippine Islands to marry Edwin Osgood Cogan. Mrs. Cogan lived there until 1945, the last three years spent in the Japanese concentration camp at Santo Tomas in Manila.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on January 27, 1937, Ed was the son of the late Edward J. Gormley Sr. and Muriel Grace (Keppler) Gormley.
