Ezekiel Gaylon Parks

Hoosick Falls – Ezekiel Gaylon Parks passed away while asleep in his mother’s arms on the evening of November 10, 2014, at the age of two months and seven days. He was born on September 3, 2014.

Zeke joins his grandmother, Sharon Parks, in heaven. He is survived by his brother and sister, Anderson M. and Scarlett A. Parks, his mother and father, David M. and Tamara J. Parks (nee Pine), his grandfather, Donald L. Parks and fiance Cerrita Rowell, all of Pflugerville, TX, his grandparents, Burton L. and Margaret V. Pine of Hoosick Falls, NY, his aunt and uncle, Nathan L. Parks and Azadeh Poursepanj, his great-aunt and uncle, Tom and Barbara Gunder of Austin, TX, his great-aunt, Myrna C. Smith of Memphis, TN, and his aunt and uncle, Brian H. and Angela D. Pine of Indianapolis, IN.

The Parks family wishes to recognize our brothers and sisters in Christ from the New Life Baptist Church in Pflugerville, whose love and support during this time of loss has provided immeasurable comfort and healing.

We also wish to thank the men and women of the Austin-Travis County EMS and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office for their valiant efforts and compassion and the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State for receiving Zeke’s remains toward a noble cause.

During his short but happy life, Zeke was loved by many, and his absence is felt profoundly by all who knew him. His brother, Anderson, would often thank God for his little brother, and Zeke’s big sister, Scarlett, affectionately dubbed him “Zeekie.” Anderson and Scarlett both enjoyed helping to take care of their baby brother.

Among friends and family, there was no shortage of eager arms waiting to hold and feed Zeke. He was never alone. He is missed greatly.

Memorial services were held at 7 pm, Tuesday, November 18, at the New Life Baptist Church.

Bruce A. Stevens

Mechanicville/Stephentown – Bruce Arthur Stevens, 77, formerly of Stephentown, NY, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Born at his grandparents home in Stephentown on February 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Florence Hoffman Stevens. He attended Stephentown Grade School and was a 1956 graduate of Berlin High School. He attended his 50th class reunion in 2006.

Stanley W. Eames Jr.

Hoosick Falls – Stanley W. Eames Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2014, surrounded by his family, listening to polka music, at St. Peter’s Hospice in Albany, NY. He had resided on Dale Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.

Born on January 19, 1933, in Worcester, MA, Stanley was the son of the late Stanley W. and Marian (Bethune) Eames Sr. He graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor’s Degree. Stanley was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT, as an electrician, until retiring. In his younger years Stanley enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Pownal Legion Post # 90 in Pownal, VT, and a volunteer fireman with the Stamford (VT) Fire Department. Stanley enjoyed spending time with family and playing poker. He was very good at fixing things and tinkering in his garage.

Survivors include his daughters, Jane and husband Tim Johnson of Tucson, AZ, Susan Eames-Rossi and husband Ed of Agawam, MA, his sons, John and wife Lori Eames of East Windsor, CT, Jeffrey Eames of Bennington and Dr. Andrew Eames and wife Noreen of Bolton, VT, his former wife, Lisa Eames-Buchanan, to whom he remained close, his sister, Glenna Smith of Framingham, MA, his six grandchildren and his four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Friday, November 14, at 12 noon from the North Pownal Congregational Church. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal. Relatives and friends may call at the Church on Friday from 11 am until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the North Pownal Congregational Church through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090.

Dawn E. Gilbert

Hoosick Falls – Dawn E. “Dawnie” Gilbert, 71, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. She had resided on River Road in Hoosick Falls, NY, with her husband Donald Gilbert.

Born on August 25, 1943, in Troy, Dawn was the daughter of the late Edward and Violet (Dundas) Baker. She received her Associate’s Degree from Cazenovia College. Dawn operated an Early Childcare Business from her home for many years and provided many children their educational start. Dawn was a lifetime member of the West Hoosick Baptist Church and attended the Hoosick Baptist Church. She was a very active member of the West Hoosick Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir and held many other positions at the Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors, other than her husband Don, include their children, Tracey and husband Dave Wheatley of Watervliet, NY, and Erik and wife Kristen Gilbert of Albany, NY, her brother, Donald and wife Paula Baker of Hoosick Falls, and two grandchildren, Ben Wheatley and Sammi Gildea.

Funeral services were Thursday, November 13, at 12 noon from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick, NY. Burial followed the service at the West Hoosick Cemetery in West Hoosick, NY. Relatives and friends called at the Church on Thursday from 9 am until the start of the service.

Dawn’s family would like to thank Dr. James Carroll, Dr. Les Goldstein, Dr. Andrew Coates, Dr. Ronald Mensh, the staff at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, the staff at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, niece Lisa Begin and sister-in-law Paula Baker for all the love and caring they gave to Dawn.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090.

Harriet I. Miclette

Hoosick Falls – Harriet I. “Breezy” Miclette, 85, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls. She was the wife of the late Louis Miclette, who died several years ago.

Born on June 6, 1929, in Walloomsac, NY, Harriet was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Harrington. She was educated at St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls, NY. In her earlier years Harriet was employed at the Hoosick Dress Shop in Hoosick Falls. She enjoyed cooking and talking on the CB radio, where she was known as “Breezy.”

Survivors include her children, Louis Jr., Arthur, Donald and John Miclette and Colleen Miclette and James Miclette, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by two sisters, Mary Flynn and Catherine Wilson, and three brothers, Arthur, James and William Harrington.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Wednesday, November 12, at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at St. John’s Cemetery in Schaghticoke, NY.

Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090, on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation through the funeral home.

Robert W. Jones

West Lebanon – Robert W. Jones, 92, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at his home with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Alice L. Cole Jones.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 8, 1922, Bob was the son of the late Herbert F. and Madeline Goeler Jones. He was a graduate of Haaren High School in New York City, Oswego State College with a Bachelor’s Degree and Albany State College with a Master’s Degree. He was employed from 1948 to 1978 as an Industrial Arts teacher at the Berkshire Farm Union Free School in Canaan, NY, and later at Bethlehem High School in Delmar, NY. He was also employed at Ceramaseal in New Lebanon, NY. At one time, Bob was responsible for patiently teaching most of the women in the Lebanon Valley how to drive a car.

Bob served his country as a First Lieutenant during World War II as a bomber pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Church of Our Savior in Lebanon Springs, NY, the Lenox Club and the Old Chatham Hunt Club. Bob enjoyed playing golf, reading the newspaper, entertaining, traveling and doing crossword puzzles. He will be truly missed.

In addition to his wife Alice, he is survived by his children, Eunice J. and husband John Young of Timonium, MD, Barbara A. Graham of San Jose, CA, Donna J. and husband Michael Gillen of Magnolia, MA, Karen E. and husband Thomas Coleman of Falcon, CO, Herbert F. and wife Darlene Jones of Brainard, NY, and Patricia E. and husband Jeffrey Gardner of Feura Bush, NY, 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his first wife, Eunice M. Smith Jones, his son, Robert W. Jones, Jr., and his siblings, Jean Jones and Edward F. Jones.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, November 8, at 12 noon at the Church of Our Savior, 14660 Route 22, Lebanon Springs, with Rev. Canon Clinton Dugger officiating. A calling hour preceded the service from 11 am to 12 noon and a reception followed the service, both occurring in the Fellowship Hall adjoining the Church. Burial of cremains will be in a family plot in Lawrence Brook Cemetery in South Royalston, MA, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene, the Berkshire Humane Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Robert W. Jones.

Henry W. Hurley

Hoosick Falls – Henry W. “Hank” Hurley, 72, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had resided on Willow Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, with his companion of fifteen years, Deborah Mulready.

Born July 9, 1942, in Bennington, Hank was the son of the late Clarence and Laura (Woodard) Hurley. Hank was a self-employed carpenter throughout his life, taking great pride in his work. He was an avid NASCAR fan and owned a car that raced at Lebanon Valley Speedway. Hank was a member the Moose Lodge in Bennington and the St. Stanislaw Society in Hoosick Falls.

Survivors, other than his companion Deborah, include his children, Sherry Fitzpatrick of Spring Hill, FL, Virginia Hurley, Ronald Hurley of North Adams, MA, Donald Hurley of North Hampton, NY, and Todd Hurley of Sunderland, VT, his brothers, Robert Hurley of Eagle Bridge, NY, and Ralph Hurley of Pownal, VT, and his uncle, John Woodard of Easton, NY. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Hank is pre-deceased by a sister, Edna, and three brothers, Clarence, Wallace and James.

Funeral services are Friday, November 14, at 7 pm from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 pm until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund through the funeral home.

Eva Mary Fleming

Hoosick Falls – Eva Mary Fleming, 86, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center with her family by her side. She resided on Saratoga Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, and was the wife of the late David B. Fleming.

Born on June 7, 1928, in Hoosick Falls, Eva was the daughter of the late Fred and Eva (Gibbons) Motsiff. She graduated from Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls. Eva worked for New York Telephone in the Hoosick Falls office as an operator and later in the Hoosick Falls Central School cafeteria.

Eva was well known for her love of life and her indomitable spirit with friends from every generation, occupation and situation. She could be found at the casino, at the track or at the Health Center visiting a friend. Eva was a life long Hoosick Falls resident and knew every kid who went through her school lunch line and every bettor in line at OTB. She played cards with 20-somethings, helped set up football pools with 40-somethings and shared gossip with 80-somethings. Eva enjoyed following “her” New York Mets and “her” Pittsburgh Steelers.

Eva enjoyed games of chance, bowling, ping pong and shopping, and she belonged to several card clubs. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, of the Health Center Auxiliary, a Lifetime Member of the St. Stanislaw Society, of the Elks Auxiliary, and she was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include her children, Mary Beth and husband Richard Dickinson and David and wife Sharon Fleming, her sister, Nelma Motsiff, all of Hoosick Falls, her grandchildren, Carly, David and Rachel Dickinson and Matthew, Jason and Molly Fleming, as well as several nieces and nephews. Eva is pre-deceased by three sisters, Addie Kjelgaard, Clara Salluzzo and Gladys Coonradt, and two brothers, Stanley and Fred Motsiff.

A Mass of Christian Burial is being offered on Friday, November 7, at 11 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090, on Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 am. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Academy through the funeral home.

Sarah E. Smith

Pittstown – Sarah E. Maynard Windsor Smith, 92, died peacefully at home in Pittstown, NY, with her loving family at her side. Born in Hancock, MA, on July 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Elmer C. and Mina Jordan Maynard. She was a 1939 graduate of Berlin High School. In April 1940, she married Harry Windsor and resided in Berlin, NY, and then Troy, NY, where she was a homemaker. After Harry’s death in 1969, she was employed by Montgomery Ward & Co. in Menands, NY, from 1970 to 1979.

In June of 1973 Sarah married John J. Smith and moved to Indiatlantic, FL. She was employed by Zayres Dept. Store in Florida as a saleslady before retiring in 1986. Her husband John died in 1994, and she moved back to Pittstown in 2002. Sarah was a great cook.

She is the beloved mother of Larry A. Windsor of Pittstown, Jeffrey P. and wife Sandy Windsor of Eagle Bridge, NY, Nancy L. Windsor of Troy and Kathleen M. Layne of Pittstown, stepmother of Jeanne Henderson of Hyde Park, NY, Michelle Zilgme of Albany, NY, and Gail Moore of Boca Raton, FL, sister of Robert Maynard of Myersville, MD, the late Elmer Maynard and his widow Penny of Mechanicville, NY, and the late Mary Wright, whose husband John survives, of Hancock. She is also survived by several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday, November 3, at 1 pm at the Meadowlawn Cemetery, Hewitt Road in Petersburgh, NY, with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY, 12205. Arrangements are by the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home in Stephentown. A condolence book can be accessed at www.ParkerBrosMemorial.com.
