Rolf Max Sternberg

Hoosick Falls – On November 29, 2012, Rolf Max Sternberg passed away peacefully in his home with his daughters, his sister and sister-in-law by his side. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in October 2011. Always hopeful that he would get better, he fought until his very last day.
Rolf was born on November 24, 1945, and grew up in Hoosick Falls, NY, as a first generation American. His parents escaped World War II and opened a five and dime store in the Village. [Read more…] about Rolf Max Sternberg

Richard Martelle

Hoosick Falls – Richard Martelle, 87, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at his residence on First Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. He had resided there with his wife Felicia.
Born on July 25, 1927, in Hoosick Falls, Richard was the son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Biondi) Martelle. Richard was employed at Cushman Furniture and the Specialty in Hoosick Falls. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. Richard enjoyed gardening, playing bocce, playing cards and making wine.

Nancy A. McCabe

Hoosick Falls – Nancy A. McCabe, 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She had resided on Elm Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, and was the wife of the late Loren E. McCabe, who died in 1993.
Born on March 7, 1935, in Hoosick Falls, Nancy was the daughter of the late Edwin and Florence (Callahan) Webster. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1952. Nancy was formerly employed at Isola Industries in Hoosick Falls, Hemmings Motor News in Bennington and, currently, at HAYC3 in Hoosick Falls. She enjoyed annual vacations to York Beach with her family.

Kenneth A. Burns Sr.

Hoosick Falls – Kenneth A. Burns Sr., 93, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Burns.
Born on May 16, 1919, in Troy, NY, Kenneth was the son of the late Timothy and Genieve (Estabrook) Burns. He was educated at Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Philippines. Kenneth worked at the Gold Meadow Creamery in Buskirk, NY, the family farm and was a custodian at Hoosick Falls Central School until retiring. Kenneth enjoyed going to the Sunday breakfasts at the local firehouses.

Born in Lawrence, MA, on July 27, 1941, Bill was the son of the late Ruth and Henry Nason of West Boxford, MA. He was educated in West Boxford schools and was a graduate of Johnson High in North Andover, MA. Mr. Brandi was a Catholic, a decorated Army WW II veteran who was awarded a purple heart and a retired rubber and plastics industry technical advisor and plant manager.

Lawrence E. Baldwin

Stephentown – Lawrence Edgar Baldwin, 70, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 11, 2012, after a long illness. Born May 5, 1942, in Troy, NY, he lived most of his life in the Berlin-Stephentown area. Larry was a member of the Laborer’s Local #452 and #190 construction unions since 1962. He helped build many roads, bridges and buildings in the area. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying every minute. Larry loved hunting, fishing, gardening and his dogs.
