HAYC3 Continues It’s “Under The Stars” Outdoor Movie Series

Join HAYC3 on Sunday, July 3 for a free showing of The Princess Bride, at Wood Memorial Park, beginning at dusk.
The movie is “A classic fairy tale, with swordplay, giants, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, and yes, some kissing (as read by a kindly grandfather).”
It’s a fun, feel-good, free night for the whole family.

The Petersburgh Town Board held a special meeting on Friday evening June 10 primarily for the purpose of appointing a new Supervisor. Town Board member Alan Webster was nominated to be interim Supervisor, and was appointed by a unanimous vote. Hoosick Town Board Backs Water And Sewer Expansion Study

The Town Board unanimously passed Resolution #57 of 2016 at its regular Town Board meeting on June 13. The resolution will allow the Town to work with the Village of Hoosick Falls on the feasibility of extending water and sewer into areas of the Town and to share the cost of the Proposal for Engineering Services as presented by MRB Group that would be used to seek funding through NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC). The combined cost of the studies (one for water, one for sewer) is $46,000, of which the Town will pay half. Supervisor Mark Surdam signed the agreements with MRB at the meeting. PFOA In The Blood One Person’s Story

Many in the area who received their blood test results recently are struggling to adjust to a new reality that includes the possibility that PFOA in their blood may cause disease. One of those is Emily Marpe of Petersburgh, who has learned that her blood contains 322 parts per billion. Her daughter was found to have 207 ppb in her blood, and her son 107 ppb. She said, “When I first read those numbers, I was blown away.”  When she got home she lingered in the driveway for a while, because it was hard to go in the house and tell her family about the results. CSEA And The Town Of Berlin Reach An Agreement For 2016

The union representing the Town of Berlin’s highway department employees and the Town have signed a memorandum of understanding that provides each employee with a $300 stipend for the year 2016.  The Town and the union will continue to work under the current contract, with both parties agreeing to re-open negotiations for a new contract in August.  Town Supervisor Rob Jaeger tells The Eastwick Press he thinks it’s a good deal, it gives the employees something for this year while they continue talks on a new contract, and it fits within the Town’s budget.   [Read more…] about Berlin Town Board Action

Chatham Swimmers To Join Berlin/NewLebanon Team

At its June 9 Meeting, the New Lebanon School Board approved the merger of its swim team with the Chatham swim team by a 5-0 margin. The New Lebanon swim team has been merged with Berlin for many years, and now the team will be augmented with swimmers from Chaham, assuming the Chatham School Board and the Section 2 ruling body approve it.
