Did you know that Clara Barton organized the American Red Cross in Dansville, New York? Dansville is located in Livingston County; it is a quiet, picturesque village in the Finger Lakes region of central New York. In 1873 when Clara returned from Europe to America she was exhausted and in need of rest. She sought out Dr. James Jackson, founder of Our Home on the Hillside in Dansville for his water cure. PFOA Testing Results Released: 20 Of The 50 Samples Taken In Petersburgh Are Above EPA Limit

On Monday March 14, the Rensselaer County Department of Health released the results of private well testing for PFOA contamination from the wells of 50 private homes, mainly within a half mile of the Taconic plant in Petersburgh. Twenty of the fifty samples contained PFOA at levels higher than the current EPA standard of 100 parts per trillion.
