The Petersburgh Public Library invites everyone to come and learn about the Korean War from John Parkinson on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 pm.  Parkinson is one of the people featured in the book “Devotion:  an epic story of heroism, friendship, and sacrifice” by Adam Makos.  Copies of the book are available at the library if you would like to read the book before the program. Learning How To Make Maple Syrup At Grafton Lakes State Park

Hoosick Falls – Helen Nicolas Panos, 94, formerly of Troy, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Diamond Hill Nursing And Rehabilitation Center in Troy after a brief illness.  Born in Schenectady on September 5, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Albert A. and Bena Reinfurt Nicolas.  Helen was raised in Hoosick Falls and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy where she was the class valedictorian. PFOA Found In The Petersburgh Municipal Water System

Initial test results from the New York State Department of Health have found PFOA in Petersburgh’s water supply, at levels between 93.3 and 95.9 parts per trillion.  The most recent US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) advisory level for PFOA in drinking water is 400 parts per trillion, Region 2 of the Environmental Protection Agency about a month ago said they are developing a “lifetime health advisory level for PFOA” and recommended in the interim that people not consume water with a level at or above 100 ppt.
