The New England Trail Riders Association held its annual local Hare Scramble event Saturday and Sunday. The event was hosted at the Bugbee Farm on Clay Hill Road. On August 8 Joe Ferrannini of Hoosick Falls-based Grave Stone Matters repaired the headstones in the “Old” Mount Ida Cemetery of several people of historical significance who had ties to eastern Renssaelear County, including Dr. Jeffery W. Thomas and Dr. Philander H. Thomas of West Sand Lake, and his wife, Laura Hull Thomas. Her grandfather was Lt. The Berlin Middle/Senior High School is hosting a Fall Festival on October 3 from 11 am to 3 pm. Games, Food, Vendors, Haunted House, Pumpkin and Mum sales will be topped off with a Magic Show in the evening. All members of the community are invited to share in this fun filled day.

Sheriff Jack Mahar today accepted an award from the New York State Sheriff’s Association in recognition that the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office has achieved Accreditation for the Correctional Facility. Sheriff Jack Mahar has stated that this achievement is the result of efforts by the Chief of Corrections, the accreditation team, and all correctional staff and support staff that work hard each and every day to insure that our community is safe and secure from those deemed a danger to be in our community. On Sunday, September 27 at 2 pm, the Cambridge Historical Society & Museum will once again offer a “Victorian Tea” at the Museum on Broad Street in Cambridge, New York. There will be homemade sweets, savories and tea to be enjoyed while watching a live fashion show of reproduction women’s costumes from the 1890s through the 1920s. Stephentown, NY – Richard Michael Griffin, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 31, 2015 after an extended battle with cancer.
