Paul “Paulie” DiMeo and Pat “Tuffy” Bakaitis Construct Creative Cabins

A new season of Building Wild started Tuesday, February 24, at 9 pm on the National Geographic Channel. Construction’s odd couple build another round of do-it-yourself dream cabins. Designer Paul DiMeo (@Paul_DiMeo), known for building the impossible over nine seasons on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” has again partnered with Hoosick woodsman and master fabricator Pat Bakaitis on a cabin design and construction business known as the Cabin Kings. Comprehensive Plan Update Focus Of Joint Meeting

Hoosick Town Supervisor Mark Surdam invited Rensselaer County Chief Planner Linda von der Heide and Ben Syden and Nicole Allen from the Laberge Group to attend a joint meeting of the Town, Zoning and Planning Boards that was held on Wednesday, January 21. Building Inspector Ed King and Deputy Supervisor Jeff Wysocki also attended the meeting. Surdam said a major objective of the meeting was to discuss updating the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. The Plan was first put in place over 10 years ago.

Baker Insurance Now Culnan Insurance

Leo Surdam Matter Resolved

At the Hoosick Falls School Board meeting on February 12, Board President Greg Laurin read a short statement about the resolution of the case of District Bus Driver Leo Surdam, who was suspended after an incident on his bus December 8 in which he confronted two students over the way they were behaving towards a third, younger student on the bus. Berlin Town Board Action – Budget Do-Over

Berlin’s 2015 budget, adopted on November 13, was made official and legal at the Town Board meeting last Thursday. In an action called “Nunc pro tunc” (now for then), the Board passed a “Statement of Necessity” resolution that dispenses with the normal 30-day “seasoning” of a local law. Village Of Hoosick Falls Board Action – Possible Expansion Of Residency Requirements For Appointed Positions

The Hoosick Falls Village Board began its meeting on February 10 with a moment of silence in remembrance of Freddie Bouplon, Joseph Cullen and Justice Richard Whalen. Whalen was a Town and Village Justice and the Village Assessor. He was on vacation at the time of his passing and had provided coverage for his positions while he was away, said Mayor David Borge. In an effort to expand replacement possibilities for these positions, the Board approved a motion to hold a Public Hearing before the March 10 meeting.
