Stephentown Man Arrested For Alleged Kidnapping

On Tuesday, August 14, the NY State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and uniform personnel in Schodack investigated a report of a kidnapping on State Route 20 in the Town of Nassau. The investigation into the reported incident revealed that Sean W. Conklin, 24, of 14 Browns Road in Stephentown, broke into a residence on State Route 20 in Nassau at about noon on the 14th and, during a verbal altercation with his ex-girlfriend, forced her into the vehicle he was operating and headed east on State Route 20.

Petersburgh Seniors Go To Mystery Destination

The Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors, with a couple grandchildren in tow, went on their mystery trip on Monday. They started with a lunch at the Old Country Buffet in Pittsfield, followed by attending an abridged rendition of Rodgers’ and Hammerstein’s Me and Juliet at the Colonial Theater. Berlin Town Board Action – Not A Word

Having successfully passed the mantle of the most dysfunctional town board in eastern Rensselaer County to candidate boards in neighboring towns, the Berlin Town Boarding meeting on Thursday, August 9, was another breezy and brief meeting with no debate and no disagreements. Curiously, for the third meeting in a row not a word was mentioned about the closing of the Berlin Lumber property, which the Town Board voted in January to purchase for use as a municipal center. Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is this year’s Title Sponsor for the Hoosic River Bike Ride. Almost 200 bicyclists participate in the annual event, which is sponsored by the Hoosic River Watershed Association (HooRWA). The ride has four different routes of various lengths and degrees of difficulty which allow riders to explore the Vermont, Massachusetts and New York watersheds, farms, forests, covered bridges and historic settlements via mostly secondary back roads. 27th Annual Run For The Roses At Grafton Lakes State Park – Winners And Local Finishers

Runners headed off from a new “START” banner that recognized the race as a Tom Conklin legacy. Conklin was the manager of Grafton Lakes State Park for 22 years who passed away almost a year ago, having initiated the Run for the Roses during his tenure as well as many other park events.  His wife Leslie Conklin and his son Scott were there to start the race on Sunday.
