Hoosick Falls Village Board Action – The Village To Consider Shared Services Or Dissolution

At the regular meeting of the Hoosick Falls Village Board on Tuesday, November 8, Mayor Matt Monahan announced that the Village has received a Local Government Efficiency Grant from New York State in the amount of $48,910. The Mayor explained that the Village must prepare a scope of work on a shared services plan with the Town or dissolution of the Village into the Town. Motocross In Stephentown Raises Environmental Concerns

Although Howard Commander’s attorney submitted what he termed was “99 point something percent of our completed application” for a proposed Motocross park in the south end of Town, the Stephentown Zoning Board decided to wait till next month for a 100% complete document. At the meeting on November 3, attorney Francis Roche acknowledged that there may be a couple of loose ends. One is a pending archeological report from the State Historic Preservation Office and the other is a question as to whether the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation will have more to say about wetlands protection.

The Berlin Election

Four candidates vied for two Town Council seats in Berlin in Tuesday’s election. The candidates for the other positions in Town government ran unopposed.
Tara Cinney Fisher and Dean Maxon were the top vote-getters in the contested race for Town Council. Fisher had 270 votes and Maxon 227. [Read more…] about The Berlin Election

The Stephentown Election

In Stephentown Larry Eckhardt, running unopposed with Republican endorsement, was reelected with 457 votes for a second two year term. The two Council seats were won by Bill Jennings, Democrat incumbent, with 380 votes and newcomer John Meekins, the Republican Party candidate, registered Conservative, with 333 votes. Republican Jason Guilbeault and Democrat Alice Caton trailed in the Town Council race with 288 and 244 votes respectively.

Stevens of Hoosick Falls, NY, went home to God on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH, after a long illness.  He was the cherished husband of Dianne Bingham Stevens and is also survived by his parents, John and Marge Stevens, his brother, Jerry Stevens, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Capano Service

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Jeanne M. Capano on Saturday, November 12, at 12 pm from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Academy through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
Jeanne died on October 25 of this year. She was the wife of the late John Capano, who died on August 25, 2011, and the mother of the late Alan Capano, who died April 7, 2008.
