At the regular meeting of the Grafton Town Board on Thursday, September 9, Highway Superintendent Herb Hasbrouck reported that ditching was completed on Babcock Lake Road and Kautz Hollow Road. He reported that 75 percent of the sand needed for winter has been hauled in. Hasbrouck is putting out a bid to rent a large chipper for a day or two to use on Dunham Road. Supervisor Allison Kirchner thanked Hasbrouck for all the work he has done.

A Day At The Fair

The Schaghticoke Fair was last week. The first few days were really hot, but the weekend was glorious and the weather was perfect for strolling through the exhibits. Some families have been exhibiting at the Fair for 50 years or more. Today their children and grandchildren also show animals, participate in 4-H programs or exhibit crafts and more. Besides the rides, which the young people love, there were plenty of activities and interesting programs for young and old to enjoy and plenty of food to try as well.

The Karen McGovern Legacy Continues

Karen McGovern, a young vivacious woman, loved by friends and family, was stricken with cancer and put up a valiant, but unsuccessful battle against the disease. She passed away eleven years ago. Yet her memory lives on in Hoosick Falls almost every day and especially on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. That is the date of the Karen McGovern Volleyball Tournament. HFCS Varsity Field Hockey Wins Tournament

It was not an easy victory. On Friday, September 3, HFCS Varsity Field Hockey began its season with the Annual Hoosick Falls Tournament. HF played Mt. Anthony of Bennington and finally won, 1-0, in sudden death double overtime. The goal was scored by Amanda Lewsey, assisted by Samantha Skott.

HFCS Varsity Football Starts The Season With A Convincing Win Over Corinth

The defending Class C champs and NYS semifinalists, Hoosick Falls Varsity Football team started the season on a high note as they defeated the Corinth Tomahawks on Friday night 48-20.
