The Berlin Cell Tower Is Up

The Verizon cell tower in Berlin, at Satterlee Hollow Road, was erected Friday, October 9, but it’s not operational yet. John O’Malley, Verizon Wireless spokesman, said the Berlin cell tower is expected to be operational sometime late this month or early next month. (David Flint photo)

Hoosick Falls Police Chief Whalen To Retire

The last resolution passed by the Rensselaer County Legislature in its regular session on Tuesday, October 13, was one commending Hoosick Falls Police Chief Robert Whalen who, according to the resolution, will retire on November 6 in order to spend more time with his wife Diane and three children. Hoosick Falls Residents Under Boil Water Order

Hoosick Falls residents have been under a Boil Water Order from the Rensselaer County Health Department since Monday, October 19, when valves failed to hold while a repair was underway. Water Department Head Jim Hurlburt has been taking water samples to the Health Dept. and he expects the Boil Water Order to be lifted Thursday afternoon, October 22.
