Friday, March 11, 1853: Geo P. bought a second handed cook stove of Sylvenas Carpenter and paid seven dollars with the cooking utensils, it was a stove that the widow Landers had used up to her death, and Geo P. paid J.M. Glass one dollar for a copper tea kettle and he bought crockery and other things of him that was the widow Lucy Pierce’s, the whole amount was five dollars and 50 cents, and Geo P. paid Wm B. Maxon three dollars and 31 cts for articles to keep house.

Monday: This forenoon John F. drove his fat steers to new Lebanon to Lyman Matthews for 90 dollars, John F. bought them of Patrick Murphy last fall. Today Geo P. lent seven hundred dollars in good bankable money to John Jay Moffett and took a note for three years.

Thursday, December 2, 1852: Geo P. drove his heifer and my yearling bull over and Russel Palmer butchered them at 50 cts per head and we agreed to pay him in turnips and said Russel Palmer cut up my beef and agreed to pay him one bushel turnips and I carried the two hides to Randal A.
