To the Editor:
After being made aware of the situation on 1/19/11 with the bus drivers deciding not to drive due to the icy weather that morning, I now have had the opportunity to review all the facts that have been shared with me. This included having the opportunity to hear both sides of the story from individuals who were directly involved. [Read more…] about Letter To The Editor – BOE Member Supports The Bus Drivers

Letter To The Editor – Just The Best
To the Editor:
I have lived on roads maintained by the Town of Petersburgh all my life. During those 83 years I have seen Highway Supervisors and Highway crews come and go, in all kinds of weather. Recently we had two Northern storms of major proportions and many days of freezing rain and snowstorms over a very short time. [Read more…] about Letter To The Editor – Just The Best
Letter To The Editor – Give Credit Where Credit Is Due
To the Editor:
In the caption of the photograph at the top of page 4 of the January 7, 2011 issue, it is reported that the Town of Grafton crew removed the Meneely Bell from the Grafton United Methodist Church. The fact is that not a single member of the crew participated in the bell removal.

Letter To The Editor – Hire Residents Only For Town Jobs
Dear Editor:
Earlier this year the city of Albany re-instituted its By-Law banning non-residents from working for the city. This is as it should be. Most cities and townships require their municipal employees to be residents.
In my Town of New Lebanon we always had a similar law on the books. However, on 3-10-2008, the Town Board passed an Amendment to this law that allowed any resident of Columbia County to work for the Town of New Lebanon. This decision was not made out of generosity or a need for employees, it was made as a means to cover the fact that the Town had been violating its own law for two years.

Letter To The Editor – Let The Voters Decide
To the Editor:
I think that the voters should decide the issues.
For the past six years the Berlin School District has been wrestling with several issues that need to be resolved. One that needs to be addressed now is what footprint do we want for our Elementary school(s). It would seem that the BOE has been unable to figure this out and with both sides entrenched (as the Superintendent has said) I don’t see a resolution coming anytime soon.

Letter To The Editor – Bordering On The Obese
To the Editor:
Two predominate themes during the mid-term elections were job creation and the size of government, and yet the Town of Berlin is poised to both increase the size and expense of government and eliminate any chance for job creation should it take title to the Berlin Lumber property. I’m all for growth and modernization, but this borders on obese.

Letter To The Editor – Just The Facts
To the Editor:
After reading with disbelief Mr. Kramer’s reporting of the Berlin Town Board’s last meeting, and at the risk of getting everyone hot under the collar (and there are a lot of hot collars around here lately), I would like to suggest to The Eastwick Press that they start an editorial column. This would allow Mr. Kramer to put forth his viewpoints on all manner of subjects (i.e. Berlin Lumber as home or not to the Berlin Town government) without letting them taint his reporting. Letter To The Editor – Berlin Never Looked So Good
To the Editor:
I have lived in Berlin for 39 years and have never seen the volume of young children, young adults and parents in celebration of Halloween.
I want to thank all of you for your courtesy and responsible behavior that evening and apologize for running short on the treats.
The Town has never looked better the morning after.
