The Bank of America is leaving Berlin. T.J. Crawford, a spokesman for the company, confirmed that the bank will close on December 7. Crawford said the property will be put on the market. Sometimes such properties are bought by other banks, but there is no surety of that. The Bank of America branch in Averill Park was closed last April, but Crawford said there are no plans to close the branch in New Lebanon. The company, he said, is exploring the option of placing a full service ATM facility in Berlin after the bank is closed.

Sponsors Wanted For Berlin Community Harvest Bazaar
Organizers of the third annual Berlin Community Harvest Bazaar, a fundraiser for the Berlin Community Food Closet (BCFC) are seeking sponsors and vendors for the October 28 event. This year’s activities will include a coloring contest, a donut eating contest, apple and pumpkin pie judging and a canned goods raffle. Event sponsors will provide or help purchase prizes for these activities and will receive recognition on event signage as well as a free vendor space during the bazaar. Additional vendor spaces are available for a nominal fee or a percentage of sales made at the event.

Sullivan-Jones VFW Post 7466 Buffet Breakfast
The Sullivan Jones VFW Post 7466 located on Veterans Street in Poestenkill, will be having its monthly buffet breakfast on September 9 from 8 to 11 am. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 5 to 12 and free for children under 5. The buffet includes eggs, sausage, home fries, pancakes, French toast sticks, fruit, toast, juice, coffee and tea.

The Berlin Fire Company Goes Green

The Berlin Fire House has gone hi-tech. Last week an 80 panel solar array was installed on the building’s large south facing roof. “It was a no-brainer. We won’t walk away with the farm, but we are saving a considerable amount of money,” said Bruce Hake, President of the Berlin Fire Company.

Berlin Youth 2 Youth Looking For Sponsors

Berlin youth involved in the organization Youth 2 Youth Berlin hosted an event called Messy Games on Saturday, August 18, at the Berlin Middle/High School. Thirty-five teens from the surrounding community participated in this day full of fun events which all had the intention of getting them messy! The TRACs coalition sponsored this event and also sponsors the Youth 2 Youth Berlin organization in everything they do.
