Youth 2 Youth Berlin, a community youth group formed under the auspices of TRACs (Together Reducing Alcohol and drugs in our CommunitieS) held its kick-off Teen Night event, “Glow Crazy,” on Friday, March 9, in the Ballroom of the Bridgeway Restaurant in Cherry Plain.
The event was attended by approximately 50 area youths who had a great time taking part in group dances, balloon stomping, twister, pool games, door-prizes and raffles. Raffle tickets were available for sale, but youths could also earn them by dancing or participating in the games. They could even earn extra tickets by dancing with the giant bear that was later raffled off.

E-Book And Audio Book Instruction
On Thursday, March 29, from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Berlin Free Town Library Jo-Ann Benedetti from the Upper Hudson Library System will demonstrate how to download E-books and audio books from the UHLS website to your Kindle®, Nook® and iPad® electronic book devices as well iPods® and MP3 players for audio books.
Pre-registration is not necessary, and all interested patrons from the Berlin Library and neighboring libraries are invited to participate.

Berlin Rabies Clinic
A Rabies Clinic will be held on Thursday, April 19, at the Berlin Highway Garage on Route 22 in Berlin. All rabies vaccines, dog-DHLPP vaccines and cat-FURCP vaccines cost $10 each; cash only! Cats will be treated from 6 to 7 pm, dogs from 7 to 8 pm. All are welcome. Call Doug Goodermote at 658-3308 if you have questions.
Circus History In Poestenkill
The Poestenkill Historical Society will hold its March meeting on Tuesday, March 27, at 7 pm at the Poestenkill Town Hall, 38 Davies Drive off Rt. 351, Poestenkill. This month’s program will be “The History Of The American Circus.” The guest speaker will be Tom Allison. Explore the History of the circus and how it all got started right here in New York State.

Berlin Town Board Action – Dog Rights

“They have the right to walk up and down the street if they behave themselves,” said Dog Control Officer Doug Goodermote at the Berlin Town Board meeting on Thursday, March 8. This clear statement of dog rights was necessitated because, according to Goodermote, people have been abducting dogs from the streets of the village and taking them to Goodermote’s kennel in Cherry Plain. Taconic Valley Historical Society Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Taconic Valley Historical Society will be held Monday evening, March 19, at the Methodist Church, South Main Street, Berlin. The evening will begin with a pot luck dinner at 6 pm. We encourage you to attend and bring a casserole to share. You will also need to bring a place setting. Dessert and beverages will be provided. After dinner, there will be a brief business meeting for the purpose of electing officers and a slide presentation of upcoming programs for 2012 which include W. J. Cowee – The Man and the Company, The Dutch Church on Berlin Mountain, The Propane Gas Explosion and The CCC. Please join us for the evening and bring your ideas for additional programs.

The Berlin High School Art Department is proud to present a sample of Student Art Work to the Berlin Community. The First Annual Student Art Show at the Berlin Free Town Library will run until March 30. There will be an official opening on Tuesday, March 13, from 5 to 6:30 pm, including refreshments.

Ency Burhans Named To Binghamton University’s Dean’s Honor List
Ency Burhans, of Berlin, a graduate of BCS, has received recognition for outstanding academic achievement for the Fall 2011 semester.Her name has been placed on the Binghamton University Watson School Dean’s Honors List. To qualify for this honor, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This is Ency’s third semester on the Dean’s Honor List.
Berlin Community Cemetery Meeting
