Resolutions honoring two citizens from eastern Rensselaer county were passed at the Rensselaer County Legislature’s meeting on Tuesday evening. One citizen, in the prime of life, was recognized for his service to the community and his potential for the future. The other was memorialized for a long life well lived and decades of commitment to his community.

In the caption of the photograph at the top of page 4 of the January 7, 2011 issue, it is reported that the Town of Grafton crew removed the Meneely Bell from the Grafton United Methodist Church. The fact is that not a single member of the crew participated in the bell removal.

Collectibles In Poestenkill
The Poestenkill Historical Society will start the New Year with a program on Collectibles. This is a show and tell evening. TVCG Meeting
The January meeting of the Taconic Valley Community Group (TVCG), is scheduled for Thursday, January 13, at 12:30 pm at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, Route 20, New Lebanon. The program will feature Jim Shake of the American Red Cross discussing the blood drive that TVCG will host on Thursday, February 10, at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall. Berlin Town Board Action – December – Pt. 2

Several announcements and reports were omitted from last week’s story on the Berlin Town Board meeting of December 9 due to space considerations.
Dog Control Officer Doug Goodermote reported that in the last month there had been one dog bite and that he had picked up two strays. The State inspector came to look at the Town’s kennel and, Goodermote said, the kennel passed. He also said that he had heard some complaints regarding the dog licensing fee that Berlin will start charging on January 1 in lieu of the State fee.

Petersburgh And Berlin Scouts Go To Court
Boy Scout Troop 222 from Petersburgh/Berlin went to the Grafton Town Court on Tuesday, December 14, to learn more about the courts and what happens in a town court. The Scouts were given some advice by Judge Kronua. He said that he hoped that none of the scouts would ever end up in front of him or any court but if they did they should be represented by a lawyer in any legal action.

On Sunday, January 2, from 7 to 11 am, the Berlin Fire Department will be holding its fresh, hot off the griddle monthly breakfast. For your eating pleasure we include all-you-can-eat pancakes and newly added French toast or biscuits for our homemade sausage gravy, your choice of sausage or newly added bacon, toast, home fries, and eggs (scrambled, sunny side, over easy or over hard).
