Last Chance To Register For Shatford Little League
Shatford Little League will be conducting its final registration for the 2010 season Saturday, March 20, from 10 am to noon at the Shatford Park Little League field in New Lebanon. Children living in Eastern Rensselaer and Columbia Counties who will be between the ages of 5 and 14 as of May 1 are eligible to play.

A Rabies Clinic will be held on Thursday, April 22, at the Berlin Highway Garage on Route 22 in Berlin. All rabies vaccines, dog-DHLPP vaccines and cat-FURCP vaccines cost $10 each; cash only! NY State Senator McDonald Visits Berlin

Roy McDonald characterizes the State budget battle as more of a geographic struggle – beleaguered upstate versus more populous, wealthy and powerful downstate – rather than a fight between political parties. Dubbed as a Special Rural Edition of “On The Road With Roy,” the State Senator, who represents Saratoga and Rensselaer Counties, came to town last Friday afternoon to sit down and talk with Berlin Town officials and Fire Department representatives. McDonald was accompanied by Pat Poleto, Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Brunswick.

TRACs Is Moving Ahead

The community coalition to combat alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse among youth in the Berlin school district is taking shape and moving ahead. Following a breakfast meeting on February 4 at which John Underwood gave a rousing call to action, The TRACs (Together Reducing Alcohol and Drugs in our Communities) group has continued to meet on the second Tuesday of the month. Moose Track Hike
The Rensselaer Land Trust is offering a Moose track hike in Berlin on Saturday, March 13. Sightings of moose on the Rensselaer Plateau have been on the increase in recent years. Kate Hubbs of The Nature Conservancy will lead a search for signs of moose at the Capital District Wildlife Management Area in Berlin near the Cherry Plain State Park.
