Complaints have been heard for years about the State not repaving the deteriorated roadway of Route 22, and now drivers held up by the paving project are gnashing their teeth because it is being done.
The State paved a section of Route 22 last summer from Stephentown up to Cherry Plain, and they are now picking up where they left off, doing a 9.2 mile section from Cherry Plain to Route 2. [Read more…] about NYSDOT Paving Project Tying Up Traffic On Route 22

On June 28 a very special Mass was held at Sacred Heart Church in Berlin. It was a Mass filled with memories for many. The Church was officially closed. The sign across from the Church announcing Mass hours is gone. Just the sign post remains. The Church that withstood the horrendous propane fire 53 years ago couldn’t withstand the changing times. Cantering Cowpokes 4-H Club won 1st place for the Prettiest Float in the 4th of July parade with our “Something’s Fishy” float and accompanying fish, mermaids, turtle, and sea horses. The very first graduating class of Berlin’s “School within a School” program saw a 100-percent success rate with all 13 students receiving a high school diploma.

The Rensselaer County Health Department is urging residents to take precautions to prevent exposure to tick borne diseases including Lyme, Anaplasmosis, and Babesiosis.
The warning stems from a significant increase in the number of cases of Anaplasmosis found in Rensselaer County in 2015 particularly in the Hoosick Falls/Petersburgh region. Good Turnout Despite The Rain

Wet weather didn’t seem to dampen the spirit of the many participants and spectators that came out for the annual Berlin July 4th Parade. The Parade Committee appreciates the unwavering community support despite the weather. The only July 4th parade in Rensselaer County was led by Rensselaer County Under Sheriff, Patrick Russo, Rensselaer County Clerk, Frank Merola and by local American Legion Taconic Valley Post #937 with Color Guard. Flag Fundraiser Is Very Successful

The Berlin Town Board held a quiet meeting on July 9 while most of the Town was at the circus. Supervisor Jaeger reported that the new flag pole at the Municipal Complex had been erected, and it “came out nice.” He thanked the Highway Department for the work they did putting up the flag pole and pouring concrete for the base.
