Boy Scout Troop 222 from Petersburgh will be selling Christmas wreaths and TV raffle tickets on Sunday, November 27, at the Stewart’s in Berlin (Rt. 22) from 9 am to 2 pm. We hope the community will come out and support their local Boy Scout troop. New boys are always welcome to join the troop.

The Grafton Fire Auxiliary Presents Toys For Town Tots Dinner And Dance
Join your family and friends in celebrating the season! Enjoy a delicious roast beef dinner prepared by Giuliano’s Catering, festive dance music by local DJ Kevin Beaudoin and help children in your own community have a wonderful holiday by bringing an unwrapped toy! This event is on Friday, December 2,at the Grafton Fire/VFW Hall, County Route 85. The Doors Open at 6:30 pm and Dinner is served at 7. Dancing lasts until midnight.

Megan Myers Of Petersburgh Bags Deer On First Day Of Hunting Season
The 2011 regular deer and bear hunting seasons opened at sunrise on Saturday, November 19, in New York’s Southern Zone. The two big game seasons close at sunset on Sunday, December 11.
The Southern Zone regular deer season is New York’s most popular hunting season, with participation from about 85 percent of New York’s 560,000 licensed deer hunters. Harvest during this season accounts for nearly 60 percent of the total statewide deer harvest. The remainder occurs in the Northern Zone, on Long Island and during special seasons when only archery or muzzleloading firearms may be used.

Grafton Town Board Action – Ambulance Under Fire

The Grafton Town Board meeting for November was a rather routine meeting until Frank Sbrega started talking about his objections to the leadership of the Grafton Ambulance during the public comment time and set off a number of other people who had concerns about it. Sbrega tried to attend a meeting this month because he “just wanted to see how they operate,” and he reported that he was asked to leave and told that the meeting was private. He felt that there are three people who seem to control everything, and he thought it should be opened up.

Ungaro Takes Grafton Council Seat

Absentee ballots were counted late Monday afternoon in the Grafton Town Council Race. The unofficial tally on Tuesday afternoon stood at Messenger 459, Ungaro 439, Gundrum 412 and Fredricks 378. There may be one or two more absentee ballots, and two votes were challenged, but these will not be enough to change the outcome. Rick Ungaro, whose election was not a mathematical certainty on November 8, will replace Ed Fredricks on the Grafton Board.
Town Meetings With Stephen Young
Dr. Stephen Young, Superintendent of the Berlin Central School District, has held two of the scheduled “town meetings” at the local libraries. The last two meetings are scheduled to begin at 7 pm with the next meeting scheduled for the Grafton Town Library on November 22. A Democratic Sweep In Grafton

A change in leadership will be coming to Grafton with a new Supervisor and, if Rick Ungaro’s lead holds up after absentee ballots are opened, a Democratic majority on the Town Board.

Benefit Supper For Afton Redick
There will be an all you can eat Spaghetti Supper Benefit from 4 to 7 pm on Saturday, November 19, at the Berlin Firehouse. Proceeds will help to defray medical expenses resulting from a traumatic head injury to 2007 Berlin Central School graduate Afton Redick. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children.

Locks Of Love In Grafton
Adrianna Maxfield, eight years old, daughter of Scott and Nadine Maxfield, donated 12 inches of hair to Locks of Love for the second time on Wednesday, October 26. Adrianna, a student at the Berlin Elementary School, wanted to donate her hair to help other kids and to honor those in her family who have passed away.
