Grafton Lakes State Park Off-Road Triathlons
Sky High Adventures and Grafton Lakes State Park announce that Off-Road Triathlons will be held at Grafton Lakes State Park the weekend of July 16 and 17. The Sky High Kids Off-Road Triathlon, a USA Triathlon sanctioned youth event, will take place on Saturday, July 16, with a 9 am start time. The Sky High Off-Road Triathlon at Grafton Lakes, a Nissan Xterra Points Series Race, will take place on Sunday, July 17, with an 8 am start time.

Trail Day In Grafton Needs Volunteers
Come to the woods and spend an afternoon on Sunday, July 17, at 1 pm clearing trails from storm tree damage. One of the privately owned conservation easement properties of the Rensselaer Land Trust has public trails that need work to make them safe and pleasant again. The property is adjacent to the Dyken Pond Environmental Center, which is where we will meet. Wear long pants, sturdy solid shoes and work gloves. Be prepared to help lift fallen trees. Environmental Cooperation Smooths Grafton Planning Board Meeting

The Grafton Planning Board held two public hearings before its regular meeting on Monday, June 20. One was for the application by Peter Dubacher of the Berkshire Bird Paradise for permission to install three small wind turbines at the bird sanctuary to help defray energy costs. Rabies Clinic In Grafton
There will be a rabies clinic in Grafton sponsored by the Rensselaer County Health Department on Thursday, June 30. It will be held at the Grafton Fire House, 2385 NY 2. Cats and ferrets (in a carrier) will be treated from 5 to 6 pm and dogs (on a leash) from 6 to 7 pm. Bring a previous rabies certificate in order to get a three year vaccine. Donations will be accepted.

Humphrey Family Impresses County Legislature

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Rensselaer County Legislature thirteen members of the family of Fred A. Humphrey of Petersburgh gathered to receive copies of the resolution passed last month memorializing him. Humphrey died on April 14, 2011. Vice Chairman of the Legislature, Stan Brownell, who represents the towns of Petersburgh, Berlin, Stephentown, Grafton, Hoosick and the Village of Hoosick Falls, made the presentation accompanied by the other District Five Legislator Lester Goodermote.

Grafton Town Board Action June 2011 – New Siding For The Post Office

Grafton Supervisor Tyler Sawyer said the Town has had problems keeping the Post Office painted. The old school house which houses the post office is owned by the Town and produces revenue through the post office rental. It’s a charming and attractive building but has some kind of moisture problem which makes the paint peel off it.
