At recent Grafton Town Board meetings (not the most recent however) there has been much mention of conflicts within our Town government. Some members of the Town Board have publicly dismissed these concerns as political grandstanding or characterized those voicing concerns as political operatives.

Late June Events At Grafton Lakes State Park

Dyken Pond Summer Camp Scholarships

Camp scholarships are still available for the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center’s Summer Outdoor Learning Adventure (SOLA).  These week long day camps provide age appropriate activities in ecology, wildlife and outdoor living skills.  Games, hikes and hands-on discoveries will give campers a lifetime of memories.
Camps run from mid-July to mid-August depending on age. Scholarship applications, camp schedules and details can be downloaded at www.dykenpond.org or by contacting the Center at 518-658-2055 or dykenpond@fairpoint.net.

Grafton VFD Breakfast

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be holding an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, June 25, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are  on the menu. The cost is $8 per adult, $4 for kids 12 and under and free for kids five and under.  We look forward to serving you!

National Trails Day A Success

On Saturday, June 4, forty-five volunteers turned out to improve the trails at Grafton Lakes State Park and enjoy a day in the outdoors. The Taconic Hiking Club, Grafton Trail Riders, Capital MTB, Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park members, families and friends worked on six different trails throughout the Park. Downed trees from this year’s many windy storms were cut and cleared from trails; raking and trail marking were completed, and litter was gathered from shorelines.

Tragic Pool Accident In Grafton

A 19-month old infant was taken to Albany Medical Center Sunday after being found unconscious at the bottom of an above ground, backyard swimming pool in Grafton. New York State Police spokesperson Maureen Tuffey said that the police assisted the rescue squad at the scene at about 11 am on May 29. The child was reported to be on life support at the hospital. As of Wednesday morning the hospital was unable to provide any information about the child’s condition, but it was reported that the child had been taken off life support.
Trooper Tuffey said that following a police investigation the tragic accident was determined to be just that and no charges have been filed.
