Petersburgh Boy Scout Troop #222 Excels At The Klondike Derby

On January 29 the Boy Scout Mahikan District hosted over 240 scouts at the annual Klondike Derby at Camp Rotary. The Klondike Derby is a hands-on scout adventure where patrols of scouts compete in winter survival and teamwork challenges. Grafton Library Holds FAFSA Workshop
The Grafton Community Library will be holding a FAFSA Workshop on Saturday, February 19, from 10 am to 12 pm. Grafton resident Lisa Dooley, Student Loan Coordinator and Financial Aid Counselor at the Sage Colleges in Troy, will be on hand to assist parents in filling out the online FAFSA forms, which are required for college students who wish to apply for financial aid for college. She will also answer general questions about the process of choosing a college and searching for financial aid. Registration is not required, but if you know you will be attending, please contact the Library at 279-0580 or director@graftoncommunitylibrary.org.
Brunswick Elks Lodge Wine Dinner
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Brunswick Elks Lodge invites the public to a Wine Pairing Dinner on Saturday, February 12, at 6:30 pm.
Enjoy a 4 course dinner each paired with a different wine. You may choose a steak or fish entree for $30 per person. Beer or soda will be available for non-wine drinkers.

Sunny Skies For The Winter Festival

Despite forecasts of an arctic blast, Grafton Lakes State Park’s 26th Annual Winter Festival visitors encountered sunny skies and temperatures in the upper teens on January 22. Combined with the two feet of snow throughout the Park, the weather made for a perfect setting for an event that entertained about 1,500 patrons throughout the day.

Public Hearing On Firearm License
The Grafton Planning Board meeting on Monday evening, January 24, was brief. The session began with a Public Hearing on the transfer of a Federal Firearms License for John Kelly of 141 Steve O’Dell Road. Kelly previously lived in Troy and has had this license for 20 years. By law he had to get the license transferred when he moved. There was no one at the hearing.

Spanish Language Fun For Families At The Grafton Library
Angela Jimenez leads the Spanish Language Fun for Families program at the Grafton Community Library on the first Friday of each month beginning at 6:30 pm. Activities, which are geared for school-age children, include stories and games that teach beginning words and phrases in Spanish.

Battle Flag Presented To Grafton

On Thursday, January 13, the Grafton Town Board gratefully accepted the donation of an American flag from First Lieutenant Dan Naske, Pilot 4ERS, US Air Force. The flag was flown in Afghanistan on August 13, 2010, on his behalf.
Highway Crew Has Busy Winter

Public Invited To Help Shape Future Of Grafton Lakes State Park
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation invites the public to participate in developing a comprehensive master plan for Grafton Lakes State Park. A preliminary meeting to help define a long term vision for the Park will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, January 27, in the auditorium of Tamarac High School in Brunswick.
